While inspecting my MM Queen’s Keep after taking it off, my KH/spouse spotted some very minor bruising and abrasion on the sides of my scrotum at roughly the 2-3 and 9-10 o’clock positions. I was surprised because that specific area hasn’t bothered me. She told me to stay unlocked for a day or two so it could heal. The spots looked much better yesterday, and she expects I’ll be locked up again later today.

It’s clearly caused by the base ring pressing against my sac when I’m upright. It seems like if that area cools down, my scrotum tries to pull back into my body. When the base ring stops this retreat, the sac swells with fluid, likely to manage temperature. The sac gets very tight as it fights to return while still trying to stay out there. This can be quite uncomfortable until it passes. It usually happens in mid-morning and lasts about an hour, but only when I’m standing up. Sitting or lying down for a few minutes relieves the pain. It doesn’t occur at other times of day. Has anyone else had this? Did you find ways to prevent it? I’m also wondering if my daily regimen of two baby Aspirins might be contributing to the bruising/abrasion.

I’ve been wearing long enough that I rarely use lubricant overall. Occasionally, though, I’ll apply a bit of lotion to the very bottom of the scrotum near the base ring if I feel some burning, but this isn’t common. Without lube, I find the base ring grips the scrotum better and feels more comfortable. However, given these issues, I’m considering whether adding a little lotion specifically where the abrasions are might help.

However, in light of the above issue, I'm wondering if a little lotion would be beneficial in the area of the abrasions. I completely agree that an unlubricated base ring feels best. That said, when I start to notice burning or chafing, I apply A&D ointment (brand name Desitin). Since it’s oil-based, it offers some friction relief and helps heal "hot spots" faster. Usually, any minor redness or abrasions resolve while still wearing the CD, so there's no need to remove it. That method works well for me; your mileage may vary....

Jnuts uses a drop of silicone lube for the same reason. It works perfectly.

I asked this in another thread. Do you have the oval or round base ring? I’ve had trouble with the oval one, whereas a round ring of the same size fits perfectly.

The issue was so severe I couldn't wear my MM with the oval ring. After about half an hour, my sack would turn that unpleasant purple shade. I tried a larger oval size next, but then the whole device sagged too much and became uncomfortable. I ordered a round ring in the same size as the original oval, and now it fits great without any color changes. Agreed; visually there isn't much difference, but during wear, the change was significant.
