I was catching an article in our Sunday paper regarding what women in long-term partnerships (more than five years) value most for Valentine’s Day. They listed several options, without any specific ranking:

  • Any gesture of affection: cards, flowers, presents, and so on.
  • A full-body massage lit by candles.
  • A foot rub.
  • A meal cooked at home.
  • Caresses and kisses scattered through the day.
  • No pressure for sex due to all the daily activities.

As I read this, my mind turned to our KHs. This sort of care is exactly what a typical KH receives regularly. It makes me wonder if that’s why new KH members often embrace this “kink” once they understand it better.

Are we essentially giving them Valentine’s Day every single day?

What about what men want? Honestly, whether you are in chastity or not, Valentine's Day feels like a scam. It is essentially a holiday created by women—how often do we see advertisements urging us to buy things *for* our partners rather than for ourselves? I always say—and Mrs. Edge agrees—that treating your partner well throughout the entire year matters much more than focusing on just three or four specific holidays. That said, I did pick up a gift certificate for her at a local massage and spa spot. Yes, it is a commercialized affair, but I am hoping she will return the favor next month. 8-)

My question wasn't really about the commercial aspect of Valentine’s Day, but rather the concept itself: wooing the person you love. My main point was that extra attention a KH gets every day is something many non-KHers miss in their own relationships. I do agree that both partners deserve constant displays of affection. The issue arises from daily life; as we get comfortable with each other, those attentive gestures fade. From my own experience, I am paying more attention to my KH now than before she entered chastity. She has told me there are moments when her expression shows "puppy love," a look it hasn't had in years. This is how I see the dynamic of a CH relationship differing from conventional ones.

Here it is already Valentine’s Day, and I just received a box of chocolates. Yes, the woman gives the man the gift in this somewhat mysterious part of Japan! However, being commercially driven people, we have another day about a month later called 'White Day,' when men are expected to give gifts back.

Right before reading this thread, I sent this message to my wife over chat: "I hope I can fill this year with 365 Valentine’s Days for You, so you feel loved and desired every single day."

I know it is past Valentine's Day now, but who actually hates the holiday or thinks there is no point in keeping it around?
