I haven’t personally encountered ‘hot spots’, but judging by what others have said, they typically remove the device for some time. I’ve gotten a few small cuts over the years. Back in the beginning, I’d just take it off to let them heal up. These days, I focus on keeping the area clean and dry until things mend. You might find that wearing more supportive underwear helps reduce how much the device drags against your penis and balls.

With a cut, at least you can adjust things to stop it from getting sliced again, or at least avoid the exact same spot. The tricky part is stopping the friction.

I thought I could tough it out because my new JB felt great overall, except for one raw spot that popped up. After a week with no improvement, I had them take it off:( It took another week to heal, but I haven't had any problems since then. A bit of baby oil gel did the trick. Hope you figure it out if removing it isn't an option.
Consider using a silicone-based lube like gun oil. It tends to last quite a while.
Ensure all the edges and the middle of the ring are as polished and smooth as you can get them. Start with 220 grit paper, move up to 400, and finish off with Scotch-Brite pads. I buff mine using the finest pad under warm, soapy water until it really shines.
and what do you use on the device..? bada boom tish.
Right, using long and slow, smooth rhythmic strokes with that Scotchbrite pad!
