My wife and I recently decided to try the Jail Bird. I have to say, this thing beats that old plastic model I wore for more than a year hands down. It’s only been seven days (today is day #7), but so far so good. One of my worries was whether the weight would be too much while playing soccer outside. With decent underwear—specifically ones with a shaped pouch—I haven’t had any issues at all. I used to worry that if I took a hard hit in the groin, the plastic device might crack; broken plastic can cut pretty easily. Metal is unforgiving but won’t slice you open like plastic does. Of course, direct contact hurts whether or not there’s a CD involved.
Another big issue with full enclosures was sweat. The old plastic one couldn’t vent enough moisture, leading to buildup and odor despite my cleaning routine. Now, I just wash it nearly normally, and everything stays dry and clean afterward. Mature Metal answered all my questions before and after purchase. Luckily, no modifications were needed post-purchase, likely due to careful sizing attention. I do think I should have gone 1/8” smaller on the tube diameter though. My back ring size was a split between 1-3/4 and 1-5/8, which calculated out to exactly 42mm. MM made my custom ring to this measure.
No more waking up in the night trying to force that old CB6000 into its smaller size or settling for a larger fit. My wife really likes how the new device looks and appreciates the benefits it offers. All the weld points are smooth, giving it a natural formed metal appearance. While plastic might be okay for beginners figuring out their sizing, a quality metal device is what you want for long-term use. I’ll definitely buy from MM again in the future as my needs change.:D
Congratulations! I didn't realize he could accommodate sizes between standard options. Regarding the base ring, people always mention you should be able to slip a pinky finger inside. Is that measurement taken when erect or flaccid?
Welcome aboard! Glad we found you. I can see how supportive underwear would be practically necessary for running and jumping. I actually sized down my everyday underwear to improve support. For those rare moments when my balls get tender from overactivity, I have a full-support jock strap. Have you been wearing it continuously for the past seven days? That's pretty impressive for a new device. It seems like you're leaning toward keeping locked up for extended periods without taking it off. The Jailbird is definitely suited for that approach. I think many of us here share that philosophy. Wishing you luck with the next week:) -A

If it were that tight while soft, I'd struggle with even an attempted erection or one during sleep. I'm also curious what others have found works best for tightness. -A
jnuts, it definitely needs to be measured when you are hard. Like Atone mentioned, I couldn't handle a tight fit if it were judged while soft. I could actually squeeze into the 1.5" ring of those older CB6000 models, but going erect made it somewhat painful. Atone, yes, it's been on for seven days now. I'm pleasantly surprised too. I expected some sore spots from switching devices, but they haven't appeared yet. My wife and I played a little game when placing the order... The conclusion is that she plans to lock me in continuously for six weeks once she decides to put it into effect.

What was the game? Did you win or lose? From my perspective, you seem to have won, though I suppose I'm a bit unusual about this. Six weeks should be very manageable; once I went five weeks without removal. I'd like to extend that duration further at some point, hopefully sometime after January 1st. -A
I just emailed MM to ask if he can make a 42mm ring for me as well.
