Choosing the Right Length for Your Chastity Device

Hello all. I could use some guidance! I purchased the cage below and it felt quite snug, not sitting flush against my frame (it was merely 3 inches long): … 81487.html My flaccid measurement is roughly 5.5 inches. After looking around, I’ve spotted a few options that are slightly larger: there are models similar to the one above measuring 4 inches long, and I also found the “birdcage” which measures 6 inches. The question for you all: would it be wiser to get some room inside, or is a bit of tightness standard? Naturally, I want comfort but not so much space that it looks bulky (the birdcage seems huge) while still permitting movement! Thanks beforehand. Adam.

Typically, tighter fits prove more comfortable over time. The cage feels like part of you instead of an extra limb dangling about. Generally speaking. That said, I frequently see posts from guys who struggle because they are too cramped in a small unit. This can complicate hygiene, unless you take it out often or choose an open style (like the Birdcage, Jailbird, etc.) Sadly, there isn't a perfect way to know for sure every time, and many men end up owning multiple devices before finding one that fits well and stays secure.

Cleaning takes slightly longer in the shower, but I get just as clean. Using the right tools and method matters. The jailbird doesn't need much attention daily; it can be scrubbed and rinsed adequately during a normal wash. With the Steelheart, however, you really want both a spray bottle and a handheld wand on a hose. If necessary, I manage with either one for a day or two, but I wouldn't go without at least one of them. Even when you find comfort and security, other tempting options are always available. Also, the delta method offers the best measurements but is pricier, often resulting in a drawer full of units that didn't quite work. Another point: your "ideal" size shifts over time. I definitely could not have started with the Steelheart I wear most frequently today. As I got used to wearing it, learned better ways to put it on and take it off, and improved my techniques for handling issues, I was able to move down to a much smaller device.

I agree with everything said here. One more point: if you are buying a custom metal unit, aim to get the cage size correct initially. The base ring width and gap can be adjusted relatively cheaply. The cage itself cannot.

I don't know the "Looker" devices well, but I am familiar with using a penis plug for one of my Steelhearts. I've also thought about it extensively and read all related comments. Based on this non-expert perspective, I would choose a shorter length. The reason is that the plug anchors everything securely and stops things from shifting. It will also reduce or even stop pinching inside the tube. This advice comes mainly from my own experience with the fixing and from Thumper's blog posts about his Looker. You should go read all he has written on his experience.

Adam, if you plan on longer-term locking up, investing in a custom-sized unit is likely the way to go. However, the curve might serve well as your starter device. As Tom noted, slightly snugger is usually better—I have tested many devices and prefer about 1/4" of space near the tip when flaccid. This keeps my urethra from rubbing against the material. Having too much room allows for growth, which actually makes me strain more against the walls and can make sleeping harder. But you don't want to be stuffed in either. With a 3000 or 6000 model, besides cleaning difficulties, I also developed skin irritation due to friction.

Then I tried a bird cage but the base ring was too tight for extended wear. The length worked out fine; although I had an inch or so of extra room while flaccid...when aroused, that space filled up quickly. Now looking at the Jail Bird to get a larger ring and wider inner diameter on the cage part. Getting another Bird Cage soon (the last one broke when I dropped it); thinking about selling this new unopened box as well and going more custom. Anyone interested in buying my Bird Cage? LOL.
