Which lock should we be using?

I’m on the lookout for a coated padlock or trying to figure out how to stop “little man” (monkey’s penis) from getting scratched by the brass lock we’re currently using. We have the one shown in my avatar, and while a rubber band helps reduce noise, it doesn’t prevent the bottom edges from bumping into little man during sleep or when I’m feeling a bit chubby squeezing through the bars… any thoughts? I discovered that thick rubber bands used for broccoli stalks work really well. I've either secured the lock with one or placed one around the cage vents and another over the top of it. Currently using a plastic coated version, but it's somewhat bulky and makes the bulge more noticeable. I've been saving up those broccoli elastics while waiting for my new 6000s to arrive. We'll see if the lower profile cage accommodates a thicker lock or if I stick with whatever is flat, small, and water resistant.

I still rely on the plastic covered padlock from my first cage (cb6000). It works perfectly with the metal cage I'm kept in now.

I took my brass lock down to my workshop and ground the edges on a bench grinder. Then polished them until smooth. If you don't have access to a bench grinder, a fine metal file works just as well. It made a big difference. As for the metal banging against my CD, I found some heat shrink tubing that I cut to fit perfectly around the lock.

Just received my 6000s and noticed that the chubby plastic covered lock sits on top of the cock-head flare. That adds about 3/4" to the bulge in pants, so I swapped it for a key ring instead. It isn't locked per se, but remains secure and flat.

Otherwise, you might find yourself unable to unlock the lock so you can play with your cock whenever desired.

I smoothed out the edges of my Masterlock too. One important factor is that the Jail Bird depends on the padlock shaft matching the collar and stud hole diameters fairly closely. If you choose a lock with a thin diameter shaft, it allows the basering and cock cage to rotate excessively from their optimal orientation... which means one side's gap might become wide enough for a ball to escape (those things have minds of their own and love to get away). Unlike other CBs, only the lock shaft keeps everything aligned properly; there are no side pins.

Hmmm... sounds like when we get the JB, we'll need to switch to the slightly larger Master Lock I have... thanks. I'm going to investigate either filling in the edges or coating it with something. If coated, I think it will stay softer and quieter, so maybe I won't even need that rubber band!:)

For a coating option, try finding "liquid electrical tape". It works great on electrical connections too....but makes for a good plastic brush-on layer.
