Steelheart Models, Foreskin Hygiene, and Design Tweaks

We’re considering buying a Steelheart but want to hear from the more seasoned users before committing. Before you suggest I just search, yes I already did—that’s why I’m posting here; I couldn’t find a really solid thread where people discussed their actual experiences with this particular model. My Keyholder thinks the Steelheart looks much hotter than my current device (the Jailbird), but she worries about hygiene during long-term wear (weeks without taking it out). If I didn’t have a foreskin, we could use Thumper’s cleaning method—but having one makes that approach less practical. Honestly, putting q-tips up inside the tube doesn’t excite me because it feels like it might not be very effective… So here are my questions:

1. What is the best way to stay clean while wearing a Steelheart with a foreskin? (And no, removing the foreskin isn’t an option.:)) How long can you go without taking the device out and still remain hygienic? Is peeing in a Steelheart particularly messy for guys with foreskins? What is your top tip?
2. Has anyone ever asked Dietmar to tweak the design slightly by adding slits (maybe 1/4” wide) along the sides so you can pull back the skin just enough? It seems like an easy way to access the area for cleaning and peeing. A bit of a hassle for us guys with foreskin right?;) I have the same "issue" as you because it's difficult to stay clean without taking the device out. My Keyholder and I have an agreement that I can unlock just for cleaning purposes (once a day, I take a shower specifically to wash my KH property) before immediately going back into the cage. She trusts me not to masturbate during this time, so I never abuse the privilege. Regarding your idea, I think pulling back the foreskin would work fine. The challenge might be keeping it pulled forward again. My glans gets irritated if I leave the foreskin retracted for too long, so you might face a similar issue? Dietmar will do pretty much whatever you want 8-) As my avatar shows, I asked him to create a hybrid between the Braveheart and Steelheart 2, and he had no trouble doing it. So your idea should be totally feasible. Just email him and he'll reply (in my experience, once a day)...

Thanks for the response. I was hoping there might be a solution that allows for longer-term wear—but it makes perfect sense that this might not be possible with a fully enclosed device. The on/off routine is somewhat of a nuisance. Keeping things low-maintenance for my wife seems to be the key factor in wearing it long-term.:) As for the design above, I was thinking you could pull the skin back by applying pressure through the slots. To keep it pulled back, pressing and holding while making a slight 'pulling out' motion might do the trick. There's usually some wiggle room there. Experimenting with this in my Jailbird works reasonably well. This might actually work. I'll check if Dietmar has any thoughts on this too. If I go ahead with the modified design, I'll let everyone know how it turns out. Thanks for the advice...

IMO, the worst thing about devices with slots like the Steelheart 2 is urinating. If you can't easily align your meatus (as with the CB-6000 or other open designs), it gets messy. That's why I chose the regular Steelheart; everything just flows out through that one little hole…less mess.

This is an interesting point. I have a CB Zero with large holes and experience this myself, but I thought the smaller slits of the Steelheart 2 would keep the spray under control. Now I'm second-guessing my choice to get a Steelhart 2 over the original Steelhart 1. I do like the idea of seeing just a tiny bit of penis at the bottom though. Maybe urine control is more important than being able to see that frustrated cock inside.

Please look at my avatar. I think the cage I'm using is the best option because it eliminates most problems (except for security gates). I don't have to remove my cage to clean; it has excellent ventilation and allows me to pull out my foreskin through the front opening.
