questions about devices

I’m fairly new to chastity and have just begun playing with my wife. Right now, I can’t justify shelling out a lot for a device since we’re still learning the ropes. If things go well between us down the line, I’d love to get a custom-made one. Currently, I own two of those cheap Chinese models, both stainless steel. One is slightly curved and measures about 3-1/2” long; the other is spiral-shaped, roughly 2-3/4” in length with a smaller inner diameter. It can be tricky to slip into that tighter spiral cage unless I’m completely flaccid and at my most compact size (I fall into the grower category). When I try to get hard while wearing either device, the cage protrudes noticeably from my body. Is this normal, or is my sizing off in a way that allows it? Most of my penis gets erect except for the part inside the cage, which naturally bulges out between the rings. Would a custom-fitted unit solve this issue? My wife doesn’t seem to like how far forward the cage sticks out. Any suggestions for devices suitable for beginners without jumping straight into full custom builds?

I've never encountered this issue myself, but I began using plastic CB series devices. Their main advantage over the cheaper Chinese options is that you can adjust the base ring to find what works best for your body. It sounds like your current base ring might be too loose, which causes the device to push away from your body when you try to erect. If a custom CD isn't in your budget right now, you could buy something with more adjustability or look into finding a smaller base ring that fits what you already own.
