There’s a part of buying CB gear that I hadn’t thought about: how the necessary ring size can shift as time goes on. A few people have mentioned that thinner skin allows for a smaller ring to work well. How has it been for you? I’m not talking about those early tweaks where your first order wasn’t quite right; this is specifically about what happens after you’ve found the correct fit. Did you find yourself needing to change sizes after a few months had passed? I ask because if most people do see changes down the line, perhaps the smart move is to pick up cheaper devices in stages and wait for things to stabilize before investing in more expensive gear.
That’s exactly why so many folks suggest beginning with a CB-X device; it can be adjusted. As your body gets used to things, you can step down through the sizes until you find that sweet spot of equilibrium. Once you’re there, then purchase yourself that fantastic custom piece!
For my MM device, I kept a 1 7/8 in base ring for nearly a year before switching to a 1 3/4 in one. We took an eight-month break from wearing it, and when we started up again, the smaller ring just wouldn't sit right anymore. The larger size was still too loose though, so I had them stretch the smaller ring by about 1/16 in., which fixed everything. During that long pause, I gained roughly 5-7 lbs of weight, which likely played a part. It felt almost like getting accustomed to an entirely new device.
Hubby began with a 2" ring and reduced it to 1 3/4. However, we’ve recently noticed that after three months in his JB, he actually needs to go UP. So, we’re having the current ring stretched out to 1 7/8 while also purchasing a second one sized at 1 15/16.
I began with a 50 mm base ring and dropped down to a 45 mm one within just a few months. I’ve been wearing that smaller size for quite some time now. In the next couple of days, I might try out a 40 mm ring instead. Yes, I believe the skin on the scrotum or perhaps the muscles/fat underneath it thin out over time, which causes the ring to feel looser.
