Initially I thought we could avoid sending the Revenge back just to get a smaller ring, but an email today confirmed they need it sent in so they can fabricate the new one—ugh! The shipping delays are going to drive me up the wall! My main query is: since the A-ring has that slight backward curve at the bottom, does it still sit like a standard round ring? We’re aiming for a 1 & 7/8 (47mm) size but aren’t sure if the fit changes. If it fits looser, might he need to go down to 45mm? What do you all think?

This isn't a Steelworxx device, but it's quite similar to my approach. I wanted a base ring with the curve pointing backward to create more hanging space for the sack. I have an MM device and they don't offer that specific shape out of the box. At work, we have bending machinery available. I ordered a correctly sized ring from MM, then put it in their machine and bent it about 25 degrees. The bend begins roughly half an inch up from the bottom. With this modification, I got the extra room I wanted along with some unexpected benefits. First off, there is minimal side-to-side movement of the base ring. Second, since I have large testicles, I've always needed to order a solid base ring that was slightly larger than strictly necessary once it was on (which was one thing I liked about split base rings). Previously, this caused the cage to droop forward constantly. That little bend helped correct that issue as well. The takeaway for me is that the small bend didn't affect installation at all and resulted in a better overall fit.

So the diameter stays the same despite the ring being bent backward? Hubby has the exact same issue; he needs that 1 7/8 size to get his balls through but would really prefer a 1 3/4 at the base to hold the cage tighter against his body. Does anyone know if Dietmar can fabricate just the new ring without us sending back the entire device?

It made no difference for me personally, and that was a concern of mine too. My educated guess is that the ring's area remains constant because you are moving it backward rather than inward into the circle itself. Any math or engineering majors here to confirm?

I ordered my second Steelheart separately, and those rings don't swap between the two units. They are close in size but not quite compatible. Returning it is tedious. As soon as mine arrived, I sent the first one off for modifications; getting it there from the US took a while. Adding on the time for the mods plus shipping back home, it was about 2 and a half months total. Luckily, I had other devices to use during that wait. This is why I always suggest buying a second ring, especially when dealing with overseas shipments. I tried an 'A-ring' that was bent on one device but didn't care for it. However, others swear by them (check out Thumpers blog; he's a big fan). If I ever send my small tube back—my usual device—I might try another bent ring but in a much smaller size to see if it makes a difference. Part of the issue with mine was that even though it was smaller than what I wore, it was still about 5mm larger than where I ultimately landed.

Atone, thank you so much for the reply. If Dietmar is willing to just make the ring without us sending back everything else, we're happy to take that risk. I'm not thrilled about having to send it back if necessary... but we've decided that if we absolutely must, we'll hold off a bit before shipping.

I'd send it back. The issue isn't whether the new one will be perfect; it's simply that this current size won't fit:)

> Atone wrote: I would send it back. The problem isn't that it wouldn't be perfect, it just wouldn't fit:) Yeah, he mentioned he can't make the new ring without having the device itself. So if we want a smaller size, sending it back is unavoidable. For now, we're holding onto it and checking to see if there's anything else needing adjustment. We hope to fix everything up and only send it out once!

Welcome into our world, LadynMonkey. Isn't it fun anticipating, wanting, yet still waiting for what you desire? All the while knowing how wonderful it will be once you finally have it.:D

I wonder if William would custom-make me a smaller oval ring for the Revenge so I don't have to send it all the way to Germany haha:)
