Red Chili: Is anyone familiar with this French cage maker?

While searching for alternatives to brands like MM, MCN or SteelWorxx, I found a French maker of custom devices. I searched the forum but didn’t see any mentions. They use 316 stainless steel and in my opinion have some interesting designs that look quite comfortable as well as their own take on locking systems. The prices also seem fair. Has anyone had experience with their products?

Interesting. These look very similar to the ones I've seen for sale on DHGate, which is a Chinese eBay clone. However, these have a pin coming vertically from the ring, which is a nice feature.

According to their website info, their devices are handmade by their own craftsmen in France and Spain. I like how the ZZ cage looks and, despite the silly name, I like the Sissy Cage too. They also claim that their optional Discipline Belt reduces discomfort during nocturnal erections. Since I live in Europe, shipping costs wouldn't be too high and the EUR price is quite competitive compared to other custom builders. If I find some good reviews, I might order from them.

I don't know for sure. Trying not to be too harsh, but the design looks prone to pinching and poking uncomfortably when bending over. The examples also don't look very finished or refined. Spanner screws are only slightly more secure than a regular nut and bolt.

I checked the Red Chili website. One thing that puzzles me is that you can't choose just any dimension. The possible tube lengths are spaced by 10mm, and ring diameters are spaced by 5mm. Why isn't it possible to manufacture the exact diameter or length needed?

Why does that puzzle you? Most ordering pages give a list of options in exactly the same way. As an example, look at the options on the Mature Metal site. The cage designs look fine to me, but I would also like a review from someone with wearing experience. The fact that they are based in Europe is certainly a plus for me. I'm very tempted. My only concern from looking at the pictures is that I think the cage might be loose because the locking pin (or lock) doesn't seem to hold the cage firmly in place.

I bought the Sissy Cage and received it on Saturday. So far I like it better than the Jail Bird by MM. It hides under your clothes very well. They customized the ring for me to 43mm which is a perfect size. I got the No Escape option which gives two extra supports on the base ring that you can attach a chain belt to. It holds the cage closer to your body so it's harder to pull out of and also prevents the cage from twisting. You can also get anti-pullout spikes. So far, I like it more than my Jail Bird. I could never quite fit that one right; this one seems perfect on the first try. Shipping to the US is cheaper than a MM Jalbird.

Forgot to mention that the owner responds very quickly to questions and concerns. The only thing I didn't like was having to sign for the package when it arrived by mail. I wasn't home so I had to drive to the post office.

It puzzles me because I read in the forum that you need a glove fit for comfort. If I spend time measuring and find out I need a 33mm diameter tube, I then have to choose between a too-tight 30mm and a loose 35mm. The same applies to length: something is either too short or too long by 5mm.

By comparison, Mature Metal and Male Chastity Now offer respective steps of 1/4" (6.4 mm) and 1/8" (3.2 mm). Maybe you can check with Aken (the maker of those Red Chili cages, who is a member here) to see if he can do custom dimensions?

I wasn't aware there were size steps. I thought that "custom made" implied you could order the exact size. Could various users of custom devices share their thoughts on how accurate the sizing should be?

@crated51: I haven't been pinched during the past several months of full-time wearing. @Papageno: As far as I know, most custom manufacturers specify sizing steps on their site. It doesn't hurt to ask if they can make something in between sizes. However, please remember that your own size will vary too, even when not erect. I took several measurements over a few days and averaged the values. When ordering, I specified the nearest size down. For the cage itself, slightly (!) smaller is better than being a bit too large. This isn't the case for the base ring however. Too small in that area is uncomfortable and could even cause damage. It's the combination of base ring diameter and the gap between the ring and cage that must be correct to comfortably but securely trap the testicles. I suggest you try some cheap Chinese metal devices with several ring sizes first before ordering a custom device. In the end, this will probably be cheaper and safer than trying to find the right size immediately.

The thing is that we (device makers) don't make the rings ourselves; we buy them ready-made (though sometimes I change their shapes to oval). And the standards in Europe are 5mm to 5mm, which is quite similar in the US but based on other measures. I would love to find a ring seller in the US to complete my sizes!;) Concerning the length of the cage's tube, we offer steps of 10mm because, in my opinion, that precision is sufficient for fitting well. But when someone tells me they need exactly 65mm, I try to aim for that result.

The devices look good and did I see ring sizes over 50mm?? Only thing missing from the collection would be a curved ring.

Yes Papageno. The oval shape seems a little bit easier to put on to me, but I don't think there's a huge difference. As with any device in the market, it is possible to take off the cock from mine and put it back on (Not the whole cage; it gets stuck on the bowls). Depending on your adjustments and options, it can be easy or really hard, but always possible. To this day I don't know anything as 100% secure as a Prince Albert piercing locked onto the cage. Every device is escapable without PA. I'm working on something to witness that you have escaped your cock out...

Aken I was looking at the site and couldn't tell if the additional rings have a round strut bar or if the sides are slightly squared.

Hi LockedUp24, The base rings I make with the "Combo" locking system have a perfect round bar, and the sides are not squared.

Ah NUTS. I can't find anywhere that does this type of base ring in a 55mm size. I'm not a DIY guy and don't have the tools to do it myself.

I saw that some ring diameters can be ordered in different thicknesses. What does this change regarding comfort? Is it only the sensation of weight that changes?

Papageno. It would reduce skin spread under the testicles. An example is CB6K base rings which are very wide compared to a steel device having a rounded base ring. If you have a high n tight setup, a thinner ring might be better but the gap would be fractionally wider because the base ring itself is thinner so this needs considering.

I'm happy to wear a London Tower with "no escape" locking and an ultra-secure fit. I find its quality very satisfactory. With this cage shape, I can insert the end of my little finger between the bars to uncover the glans from the foreskin for better washing, then put the foreskin back in place. The ultra-secure HAD provides better protection against foreskin pinching when it protrudes outside the cage. However, I'm not yet comfortable enough for uninterrupted nights. Ball discomfort during erection attempts wakes me up, but I hope this will improve with further night attempts. One good thing about the 'no escape' locking is that I can adjust the gap myself. To do this, you slightly bend the locking plate away from the rest of the cage. Use pliers but protect where the tools hold the plate or cage to avoid creating scratches, as the bending force applied is significant. To ease my ball discomfort during night erections, I have slightly increased the gap. A bit too much since I had one unwanted ball escape in an unusual situation. I'll reduce it someday. One remark about my base ring: it is slightly asymmetrical. Depending on which side I slide my balls & cock into it, it results in a slightly different gap; one being about 1.5mm wider than the other. Another important thing to know when specifying the gap when ordering is that the cage position relative to the base ring isn't as you might think: the tops of the two rings are not aligned; the top of the cage ring is slightly 'above' (closer to your head) than the top of the base ring. This increases the final gap a bit.
