Trimming Down Outer Stabilizer Pins of the CB-6000 Series

Hi there, This might be a bit of an obvious question for someone who’s had their CB-6000S for so long, but I finally think I’ve nailed down the right ring and spacer setup. Plus, my wife seems more keen on keeping me locked up now that she is. So here I am using the tiniest spacer, but I notice the outer stabilizer pins stick out quite a bit (I shared a photo of myself in lock on my blog if you’re curious ~ it shows the white post not connected to the actual lock). They are a little sharp (KH isn’t fond of that), so I’m thinking about trimming them down now that I feel confident with how things fit.
So, here’s what I want to know: do most people trim these pins? Does it mess with the device’s structure? If you do cut them, what tool would you suggest using, like an Exacto knife or something else? I’m not super handy with tools, and I worry about messing up completely—I also need to make sure there aren’t any jagged edges left behind.
One more tangent on modifications… I have a feeling the CB rings could be better if their cross-sections were round (for those who like math terms, toroidal or doughnut-shaped) rather than flat, much like my wedding band and other cock rings… not angled perpendicularly to the front side. I’m proposing taking one of these rings and filing it until it’s circular around its circumference, which should feel better when worn. I tried using a knife on the smallest ring before because I couldn’t get it on properly, but that approach didn’t work out well for me.
So my challenge to you all: do you think making them into smooth torus rings is worth the effort? And if so, what’s the best method to achieve that shape? Best, sherulestherooster
Yes, you can definitely trim the pins without any issues. I used a pair of side cutters for my last CB device. This method leaves the pin with a pointed end. Afterward, I took a file to it and rounded off that point so it looked closer to its original shape again. My advice is to leave about 1/16" sticking out past the cage when you snip them. Once filed down properly, they’ll measure around 1/8". You want just enough length protruding from the cage.
I trimmed mine several years back. Recently though, while testing out smaller ring sizes, I needed to increase the spacer size because there wasn’t enough pin length left. You might want to leave a tiny bit extra sticking out. Or maybe not.
If you accidentally cut them too short, just pull them out with pliers and order replacements from . By the way, I completely agree about going for that torus shape. I modified my CB6K to work with 3k rings because the squared profile was really uncomfortable. To fix up those older 6k rings? Lots of sanding is key.
I did exactly what Locked by LRC suggested. Had no issues at all.
