Does shaving pubic hair have long-term effects?

Please excuse me if this topic has already been covered … I’ve always been told that the more a man shaves, the thicker and pricklier his facial hair becomes. I’m not sure whether this is fact or just an urban legend, but I was curious how shaving my scrotum over the long term might impact my pubic hair? Will it turn into scratchy stubble similar to beard hair? Do I need to shave more frequently? I would value any insights members can offer from their own experiences. Brian
Regarding the long term aspect, I'm not sure, but shaving down there causes me issues with ingrown hairs. It looks and feels wonderful right after a shave, but it becomes unpleasant as the hair grows back. My solution has been to simply trim very short using a trimmer.
If anything, the hair seems to return in greater volume. I don't find that bothersome. I regularly use a men's electric body shaver and haven't had any ingrown hairs.
The idea that "hair comes back thicker" is more of a perception or wives' tale. ... k-thicker/ I have been shaving for over 20 years, and the hair in my shaved area is no different in thickness compared to the surrounding skin. The hair does start off a bit sharper initially, so if you let it grow out, the tips can be more prickly than they become as time passes. I used to shave with a razor but then purchased an excellent electric bikini line shaver called the Seiko CleanCut. I've mentioned it here several times; it works very well and I use it every 2-3 days. It's easy to find on Google. Note: do NOT leave the battery inside. About six months ago, I bought a laser device, which appears to be gradually affecting how fast and how much hair grows back. It isn't as effective as I hoped, but that might be due to my skin down there being darker than the rest of my body (more plum in color rather than light pink), and since darker skin reduces treatment effectiveness.
I believe the notion of hair growing back thicker and darker is a myth. I use a razor with plenty of shaving cream and always shave in the direction of grain growth. Unlike others who mentioned trimmers, I don't care for them because clipping the scrotum usually hurts. The itching does start as the hairs grow back, but you just shave again.
I began using a razor down there several years ago. I keep two razors in the shower. One is for my face with fresh blades; when that one gets dull, I use it for "her balls" and above. Shaving every other day has made it very manageable over time. No ingrown hairs and no cuts. I am required to stay stubble-free or there will be consequences. The Schick Hydro 5 for Sensitive Skin has been the best I've tried so far. Also, I haven't noticed any increase in hair growth since starting.
I shaved my pubic hair 20 years ago. I don't see any difference or effect.
