I have to say - my bespoke cage is excellent. It’s not just the fit that works well, but there’s a pleasing ‘clunk’ sound that constantly reminds me it’s in place. I used to be quite self-conscious about this, but now I’ve grown to appreciate the sensation.
Since I’m hard of hearing, it doesn’t matter much whether others can hear it or not, and frankly, I don’t care either way. So what do you all prefer - do you enjoy the clicking and clunking noise of the padlock against the cage? Or are you aiming for maximum stealth?
Security screws mean there's no clunk, end of story. ld
Normally I don't hear anything when walking around normally but on runs when away from traffic, I can detect "tap" when the cage hits lock and pushes it away and "click" when they meet again. In my tortured mind, it sounds like "YOU'RE LOCKED. YOU'RE LOCKED." Not a fan of sound coming across in day to day movement.
My lock came with a black plastic cover. It makes a very soft "click" that I can hear (and love). I really doubt anyone else could hear it. If they did, they would think it was my car keys, which do jingle... But I can tell the difference. I love feeling the lock click against the cage the most.
