I understand that chastity devices don’t truly stop you from touching yourself, but can they block erections? I have a friend (or rather, someone we both know) who is into this and he told me:

it won’t necessarily keep you from jerking off… if you feel like it (and believe me, for the first while after starting out, most guys will want to because just thinking about having his cock inside that cage gets them worked up), you’ll figure a way. What it actually does is stop erections. Obviously sex becomes impossible since you can’t harden properly and your shaft won’t reach its destination if trapped in the cage.:D Plus, the cage fits tighter than your erect penis, so when arousal hits, you won’t be able to enjoy touching yourself without ruining the moment… this kills your desire to get turned on. I’m just curious how accurate his description is.

The answers will vary based on your physiology, the specific device(s) you select, your expectations, and how you define terms like erection or orgasm. The particular gadget you wear makes a massive difference. The spectrum of severity (and security) is vast. You are often balancing comfort and hygiene against stricter devices. The most intense units may not be practical for long-term use. There definitely are options that stop self-touching. It helps to look for something designed specifically to prevent stimulation in the right spots. Your personal sensitivity levels will determine how well it works. Remember, if you can't touch yourself easily, washing might also become tricky. Simply having a steel or plastic tube between your fingers and penis might not provide full protection. E-stim devices and vibration can still function within a restricted cage. Prostate stimulation offers another route for relief, as does anal penetration. I'm unsure how those methods apply to you specifically. Some gadgets make erections impossible, others attempt it but fail, while some don't try to stop erections at all—focusing instead on preventing orgasms or perhaps just PIV intercourse. Security is crucial too. If you can pull out the device or find another loophole, the rest of the cage becomes merely symbolic. So what does "really protect" actually mean? With enough time, tools, and motivation, you could escape almost anything if you're willing to risk your body and potentially damage the cage. Let me share my experience. I wear a Tube Jacket from Steelworxx. It stays on 95%+ of the time, with about four hours per week for cleaning and drying. It has been months since it was off for an extended period, over a month since my last orgasm. The tube is secured by a 6GA Prince Albert piercing held in place with an integrated lock and key. It's custom-fitted to within millimeters. Yes, I could cut it off using power tools, but I would need patience and care. I can get semi-erect easily enough but struggle to maintain that state. Touching myself is possible, just not at the exact spots needed for orgasm stimulation. Getting halfway there seems common, though somewhat frustrating. You'll have to decide if a partial erection you can't sustain is severe enough for your needs. The device feels quite comfortable compared to many others on the market. I find it very effective; PIV intercourse simply isn't an option. Effective masturbation is also difficult. With the piercing acting as the anchor, escaping easily via that method is unlikely. There's no substitute for testing devices yourself. Many of us here have a graveyard of test units, mostly cheaper generic models. This makes sense because custom pieces are highly specific to your measurements and cost more than generics, though lead times can sometimes be exasperating. The bottom line: you can find something that "works for you," whatever that means personally, but comfort often trades off with severity. Go window shopping if you haven't yet—there are wonderful options being crafted today. Custom is almost essential. Test first to see what suits and what doesn't. Nearly full-time chastity isn't easy. It might sound appealing initially, but many folks find shorter-term play works best for them.

Grinder provided a detailed answer. I'd add one point... Based on my (limited) experience, no chastity device will completely stop an industrious male from ejaculating. The difference lies in the difficulty of achieving ejaculation and the quality of pleasure felt. Note that I use "ejaculation" rather than "orgasm" because, to me, orgasms are mind-blowingly phenomenal experiences, whereas ejaculations are physiological events (e.g., not nearly as pleasurable as a true orgasm). Even while in chastity, if you want to get off badly enough and have the time and tools available, you will—though in my experience, a soft-tissue ejaculation feels very different from a full-on orgasm. Chastity stops the "inadvertent" shower play that could lead to a masterbatory orgasm, but it won't stop a dedicated ejaculation addict. However, it does effectively prevent penetration—which serves as an effective power transfer mechanism between partners. IMHO.

I just want to mention, have you checked out our blog? Lol Hubby and I do have sex while he is caged. It is possible to orgasm (though not particularly pleasurably) in a cage, and he certainly tries for strong erections—they are mostly squeezed and stifled by the device. There are plenty of pictures and details on our blog where we discuss this topic often. However, nothing really "destroys your incentive to get horny." In fact, I keep him so incredibly teased and aroused that I'm not sure how he manages it, honestly lol:)

In fact I keep him so incredibly teased and horny that I'm not sure how he manages it, honestly lol:) Yes, my guess is the original poster either lacks a regular partner for this or gets released too often. I haven't had an orgasm release since March, yet our sex life is better than ever. To the original poster: you need to allow chastity time to yield its full benefits. I don't think it even starts getting fun until around the two-week mark. You can't just lock up for a few hours or a day or two and expect much.
