I began shaving the anal region for cleanliness several years back, then extended that to my testicles. No issues there. A few months ago I received my first piece of chastity equipment. I’ve tried out various Chinese brands. My preference was a Holy Trainer replica, but lately I picked up a tiny metal one which suits me even better. However, they all share one recurring issue: irritation on the bottom of my scrotum. Just this morning it hit me that perhaps having shaved testicles means losing some natural protection that hair usually provides. I’d love to hear about your own experiences with this.

I find that having hair actually made the irritation worse, even though it's crucial to keep the area as smooth as possible. I use a bit of lotion and everything works out fine. For what it's worth, I personally think metal devices handle skin friction better than silicon or plastic ones.

I shave as well and haven't had any problems. Like Aarkey, I keep it very smooth by shaving almost every day, applying a little lotion in the morning and again before sleep.

At first, I didn't care for shaving the genital area. But earlier this year, I gave it a shot. Once my skin got accustomed to it, I actually prefer it now. My device feels more comfortable and I can definitely tell when hair starts growing back in spots that are hard to reach while locked.

I put some Vaseline on the underside of my balls before going to bed at night. It works wonders.

Shaving my testicles completely smooth is incredibly hard for me because I'm quite hairy down there. I do trim both the pubes above and the scrotum to manage it, and yes, being overly hairy makes wearing a cage difficult. However, when I am more thorough with shaving the balls, my scrotum gets very 'sticky' against the surrounding skin. I guess that stickiness combined with the difficulty of getting them perfectly smooth is why I just trim instead of full shave. Maybe that's related?

member_f4d8bd2438 29 Aug 2026 #7

Hmmm... I like being trimmed (using clippers), but since I only get out once every two or three weeks, there's a lot of growth between trims. Unfortunately, this can lead to some hair pulling near the end of our cycles.

I've firmly decided in favor of shaving. The ring of my cage pushes my balls slightly to one side. When the hair on them starts growing back a bit, it pokes my thighs. It's quite unpleasant! Shaving resolves all that.

I think the chafing comes from the balls trying to slip through the ring. Having a correctly sized ring helps, along with some lube in that area. I am generally shaved down there myself, but I find the issue is really the strain of the balls pulling the skin tight against the ring.

member_517e8b9874 30 Aug 2026 #10

Do you use lube? I wear my cage 24/7/356 and liberally apply Silicone lube. Another issue someone mentioned is ring size. It seems counterintuitive, but a smaller ring is often more comfortable. The chafing you described comes from the ring sliding up and down over your balls. Many men choose comfort by picking a larger ring than needed. Try using the smallest ring that still allows you to slip a fingertip underneath. Anything bigger is likely too loose. The goal is a tight ring that doesn't ride up and down on the testicles. I've worn my cage for about four years, and once I found the right ring size, the chafing problems disappeared.

I have heard several people recommend Bag Balm. It was originally created to help cow udders but is now the 'go-to' salve for any skin issues. Can't speak from personal use, but it has a strong following among those who wear cages.

I also shave regularly and it makes a difference for me. The suggestion about pinching caused by an overly large ring rings true as well. I'm not sure why exactly, but I went down a size and the pinching stopped.

Shaving my pubes has been part of me since my teens, long before I discovered **chastity** and denial, so it's a no-brainer when wearing a cage. Moisturizing is the **key**.

I've been an occasional 'recreational' shaver since I had to clear out my scrotum for a vasectomy years ago, but now that I wear a cage, hairlessness feels essential. Unfortunately, regular shaving is quite a chore for me; anything more than a few days without it leads to irritation from stubble. My solution has been DIY waxing! I'd be too embarrassed to go to a clinic, even if one was nearby (which there probably isn't), so I do it myself - veerrryyyyy carefully. The big advantage is that I stay smooth for much longer. After a few sessions, the regrowth becomes softer and less irritating, allowing me to wait even longer between waxes. The downside is that stretching the scrotal skin tight enough can be tough. This means occasionally I strip off a thin layer of skin along with the hair - definitely not recommended!! My current routine involves waxing most of the area around the balls, perineum, and penis, then using tweezers on those specific spots on the scrotum prone to losing skin. Works for me.

Laser light is your friend. I’ve had my **anal** area and chest lasered and am very happy with the results. Unlike most folks here, I think, I prefer to have hair around my penis, but if I wanted it gone, that’s how I would do it. Doing **chastity** with hair was initially pinchy. This was especially true during nighttime erections, but as I got used to the ring, the pain stopped. And when it does pinch, I’ve reprogrammed myself to realize it’s just a bit of hair getting caught; I can either ignore it or adjust the ring slightly. I am currently using a metal ring which is a vast improvement over the rubber one I wore initially. I also find that applying baby oil before bed helps, though I don’t typically use it during the day.

The idea of having anything sharp down in that area scares the crap out of me!

I don't think I would want to apply it to my scrotum, but who knows, maybe? I've never done it before so anyone has some advice, that would be great!

Especially for your first time I'd say find a professional rather than DIY! I am looking into it as well and a cosmetologist friend mentioned that given the area, someone who is trained and uses wax daily is the smarter and safer option!

Hubby shaves every week with a manual razor. He's been doing it close to 5 yrs now. We decided against the pain of waxing etc and I wasn't really about having someone else touching his junk, even for that. He's about to post about his new endeavour so I won't ruin it but if you're interested you can check out the blog for that.

I agree that you would be better off getting waxed by a professional. They are experienced and knowledgable. As a novice you could accidentally cause burns or damage to yourself.

Ok so don't just pop into home Depot and knock out a weekend project.. good to know, thanks!

member_530e4c7b21 8 Sept 2026 #25

So, step two, where does one find a professional? And what is the name of the procedure? Brazilian? I guess lastly, what's the etiquette for something like this, do you interview the person, get to know them like a hairdresser, tell them the special occasion, or is it clandestine, trust no one, use screen names...

member_b5e1ee4f3d 8 Sept 2026 #26

Kitten and I were talking about your question and came up with this suggestion. Start with a Google/Bing search for your area for waxing, salons and day spas. Call around and ask if they have experience waxing men. Be frank and upfront about what you want done. Even if the first few say no, one of them may tell you who does. If you find one they should be able to talk openly about exactly what areas you want done. For me, I shave my balls and shaft but nothing else. Every couple of weeks is enough for upkeep and I've never had any problems with ingrown hair.

member_208ad55e4c 9 Sept 2026 #27

You can find places that do a male Brazilian (that usually includes the crack I believe) but if they are willing to do all that, that's the place you want to call up. Most will have them listed on their website. Does anyone know if, even at a professional place, they actually wax the balls and shaft? I feel like that skin is delicate and might be something they don't usually do? Like I said I don't have experience but we did research and there were places that listed Male Brazilian's right on their websites. They were expensive too, I remember. Might depend on the area. Around Chicago, USA it was expensive. You're likely going to have to look for a more upscale salon/spa for those types of services. Might get more lucky to find that in a local gay community as well, if you have one.
