A272 or A271 Base Ring Issues

I’ve discovered that the “Arc” base ring simply isn’t a good fit for me. Does anyone know of a device featuring a tube similar to the A271/272 but paired with a standard round base ring? I have looked through GH Gate and Ali Express but haven’t had any success. I gave the A271 tube a try with a conventional base ring, yet the components just don’t align correctly. The bad news is that I lack both welding skills and equipment.

There exists another design featuring a ring with a round profile. However, as you noticed, the fittings for the integrated lock do not align properly.

It is so frustrating because I really like the tube's design and size. However, after a few hours, the discomfort becomes unbearable.

A272 models use an arc ring, but I believe the "Arc" base ring you purchased actually belongs to a different series. Even though they appear identical, there are real differences between them. The metal on A272 isn't as shiny/bright as the Arc ring you bought, correct?

"Arc" might not have been the most accurate term. At least one of the A271s I bought could be described as having an "anatomical" base ring. It isn't made from round stock, nor is its shape perfectly circular; it curves (or arches) somewhat from top to bottom. No, I understood which one you were referring to. I'm actually quite surprised it isn't working for you; this is the most comfortable ring I've ever worn. The flatter profile distributes pressure better than a round-profile ring does. I am wearing a 45mm size, though I would prefer 47/48mm, but I can make do with this one. In comparison, a 1-3/4 inch round ring (size equivalent) causes pain. People are peculiar.

Sorry to hear the A-ring doesn't work for you. It must be very frustrating. We usually find that most styles of A-rings are fine; our bigger challenge is finding a cage we can leave on indefinitely.

I've seen this model too, and it's really tempting to purchase because the cage resembles the older CB3000 or The Fort. However, from what little I have managed to find out, it is a cast stainless steel cage rather than machined. The metal will be thicker, which adds weight. My A272 weighs just under 6 oz; this model will likely weigh twice as much, putting it in the same range as The Fort. I found The Fort wearable for short durations because it had a plain, solid cuff ring. I'm not certain how it would perform with an arc-style ring. It is probably slightly more comfortable to wear, but still heavy enough that you need very supportive underwear.

I ordered it from DHGate nine days ago and was quite surprised when it arrived that same afternoon. It is indeed thicker and heavier as you described. The website lists it at 10 oz, though I haven't weighed it myself yet. I can confirm the ring is interchangeable with the A272/A274 device. The vent holes were cut evenly but have many sharp edges that will need to be smoothed down with a Dremel before I try wearing it. Despite the weight and minor imperfections, it looks cool in my opinion.

I also find the A272 ring design superior to anything else I have used. I started out in a knockoff HT2 and within a week had stretched the gap past an inch, causing it to slip out. I switched from plastic to metal, but the gap in the metal HT2 was unbearably tight for me. I use A + D ointment, yet I still get some ball burn during the first couple of hours with the A272 ring. It isn't too bad when using A+D ointment, but I do need to pull on the skin a few times to stretch and loosen it up before things settle down. Is this normal? The A272 A-ring fits well according to the finger rule, and the bite is about 3/4 of an inch, which feels more generous than the metal HT2. My position is high and tight, but can I expect this ball burn to fade over time as I get used to it? Should I try increasing the gap further, or should I just start buying A + D ointment by the case?

Try using some moisturizing cream for a while. It will eventually lessen over time, though even I experience it occasionally, usually around 4 am.

Would polishing the inside of the ring to a bright finish improve comfort? Or would that just cause it to slide around more?

From my experience, your skin tends to stick to highly polished surfaces.

Someone gave me this one; it had no name tag. I was told it just has a long description. The ring is essentially a plain round ring made from round bar stock. However, I am inclined to think it is best to ensure that the parts which interlock to accept the lock align properly. The lock on mine inserts from the wearer's left side... though I do not know if all similar models also do so. A few years ago I bought several different Axxx models because they were all interchangeable. I did get one with the ball separator bar. It is okay for weekend play, but it was really annoying to wear in jeans because it kept snagging on the seams. In my opinion, it looks much cooler than its actual performance warrants.

Agreed; I had a ball separator model too. It is still sitting in a drawer somewhere. In my case, I kept ending up with both balls on one side, which was just a nuisance and not nearly as good as I had imagined. MsM’s ld

That's amusing - this particular reseller is calling it the C272. I have this same style myself, but most sellers on DH Gate and AliExpress label it as the A272.

When you need a separate base ring for your cage, I suggest returning to the same seller or store and asking if they sell individual rings. It is the best way to ensure you get the correct ring for your specific cage. Even though one shop sells many cages across different series, if you bought the cage from them originally, there will be an order record showing what cage you purchased and exactly which ring fits it.
