Ring Dimensions and Fit

I’m curious what others think or have experienced—I use a knock-off HT and find the 50mm ring comfortable, yet one of my testicles occasionally slips through. It can be popped back in place, though it often takes some time and maneuvering.

Lately I’ve been testing whether getting used to the 45mm ring might solve this issue, but I notice pretty hot spots forming on the underside of my scrotum—lubes and lotions don’t seem to help much.

So should I prioritize comfort and just accept the occasional stray testicle, or endure a bit more pain for longer until it settles?

Having that little one escape to the other side can be frustrating and inconvenient, sometimes even dangerous. I don’t know much about HT devices specifically, but I think your choices for base ring sizes are somewhat limited. With several custom MM devices under my belt, I’ve noticed a significant comfort difference between 46mm and 47mm. It seems the 50mm is too loose while the 45mm could be something you adapt to over time. Perhaps try wearing the 45mm for shorter stretches (not all night) and apply lube to the ring regularly. You might also experiment with breaking in the ring without the cage attached briefly, just to avoid pulling during erections. Many of us ended up with larger base rings that felt fine initially but are now gathering dust.

Ring size isn’t the only factor letting the little guy slip through; it’s also the gap between the ring and cage. I previously had a 45mm with too wide of a gap. Now I have a 50mm with a much tighter fit, which eliminated the slipping issue and feels more comfortable.

I faced the same issue. I started out with a 50 mm (two inch) ring but switched to one and three-quarter inches (45 mm), which turned out perfectly. After over five years, it’s still exactly right for me. I always recommend simple tests to help people determine if their base ring size is correct. First, make sure neither ball escapes. It’s an easy test that only takes a couple of days to confirm whether the ring works or not. Second, can you wear the ring continuously (for at least a week) without irritation? You’ll read plenty about guys using hand lotion, Vaseline, and various lubes just to tolerate wearing their base rings. I firmly believe it shouldn’t hurt—ever. My 45 mm ring is completely comfortable; I never need lube, and nothing falls out. Could I wear a smaller ring? Yes, but when I do, irritation occurs. I have no intention of pulling out or otherwise sheeting. So why suffer unnecessary pain just in case I might want to pull out one day? I also wonder if a smaller ring would really stop someone determined enough to escape. Good luck!

This is my first post here so it might not even show up, but here goes. I’m considering buying a Holy Trainer v3 because they’re supposed to be comfortable. I visited the website and read their guide on measuring ring size. I tied string around both my sack and penis, secured it, cut it off, then measured the length. The chart suggests I should get the largest available ring size. Here’s where things get tricky: I know for a fact that neither my sack nor my penis are particularly large. In fact, according to what I’ve read, I’m slightly below average. Has anyone else used the Holy Trainer sizing method? Could you share your experiences and offer some advice?

Is there a way to measure yourself beforehand to get an idea of which size is about right or close enough? I tried the string measurement method described on the Holy Trainer site. According to their chart, I should take the largest ring—the 55. But that doesn’t seem correct because I’m not a large guy. My penis measures below average in length and my sack and balls aren't particularly big either. So is there another approach you all would suggest?

Before ordering from them the first time, I had an idea of what ring size I needed by experimenting with different steel cock rings you can order in packs containing three common sizes. I’d say it doesn’t really matter which path you take; your first cage will likely be wrong anyway. Most people here recommend trying cheaper options—Amazon and DHgate et al.—before investing in expensive or custom pieces. My initial custom order was perfect because I had already gone through about six budget cages, so I knew not just the right size but also specific characteristics that worked well for me.

I have to say the Holytrainer string measurement system is absolute nonsense!!! When I tried it myself, I also got their recommended 55mm ring. Fortunately, over time I experimented with several inexpensive models and realized I actually needed a 40mm—and now I’m using their 36mm ring after occasionally losing a testicle through the larger one. My best advice is to find your ring size another way!

Generally speaking, 100% security doesn’t exist in anything. It’s always a trade-off between security and practicality. The same applies to chastity. Why would you try to escape? How about this: why lock something inside a metal cage with a lock if there was no real desire or motivation to access it anyway? Different strokes for different folks, I suppose...

@ChastityNoob ... I get your point. Believe me, the temptation is there for me too since my device isn’t escape proof. I think about masturbation constantly; the cage acts as both a reminder and an obstacle. It’s not 100% foolproof physically, but mentally it reminds me just as strongly as the physical barrier does—at least at this stage.

Sorry to bring up an older thread again. I have a couple of things to add. First, you can change the shape and angle of your HT ring by soaking it in hot water, bending it into position, then plunging it into cold water. I didn’t realize this at first, but doing so made mine much more comfortable. For me, getting the correct ring size was the hardest part—and I had plenty of devices along the way. Those of us needing a large ring paired with a small tube often face an issue where the gap between the bottom of the tube and the bottom of the ring is wide enough to let a testicle through—especially in cold weather. This differs from what custom manufacturers call 'the gap,' which we can’t easily adjust. I needed to train myself into using a slightly smaller ring. I now own both a Jailbird and a small genuine HT; while there was some initial discomfort with the rings on each, it’s fine now.

I found gap size to be critical. I went from a 15mm gap on my first custom device (Steelworxx Steelheart) down to just 10mm on my Looker 3. Consequently, I stopped having escaped balls entirely.

Hi, I’m trying to buy a chastity device as I am expected to bottom only for my Daddy. When measuring around (behind the balls and shaft), mine is 23 cm. Not sure which ring or cage would work best though. The shaft size measures at 10 cm, so based on what I've read that equates to about 3.75". The flaccid thickness of my shaft falls between 12 and 13 cm. I can't seem to find a device that will fit any suggestions?

It’s hard to say definitively because your measurements are difficult to reconcile. If you truly measure 12-13 cm thick when flaccid, that is likely a new world record and doesn’t align well with your measurement behind the balls. You could try measuring again, or experiment with inexpensive rings in the 5cm to 6cm range to see which fits best. Some vendors offer sizing ring kits; getting one first is usually a good idea.

I wonder if he means 12/13 cm in circumference. That would work out to about 4cm diameter (roughly 1.50").
