Stainless Steel Lock with padlock Options

As I’ve mentioned before, we bought a used Jail Bird cage. We’re waiting on some necessary adjustments to be sent in. The primary concern is the lock mechanism. It features security screws, which Kitten intends to use most often. She enjoys the clinking sound of a padlock as I move around, but the model MM offers fits tightly and sits sideways. She isn’t fond of that horizontal look, whereas a smaller shaft lock hanging in front allows too much pivoting on the base ring.

She spoke with William, who plans to lengthen the stud on the base ring slightly and drill an extra hole near the end for a ‘decorative’ hanging lock.

The challenge now is locating a high-quality lock. I spotted this one … less-steel on Etsy, though they noted that font options for script engraving are limited to outlined letters only. It’s unclear if I can find a local shop to do the engraving.

Since it's mainly for decoration, you might consider a heart-shaped dog tag. Amazon carries customizable versions, or you can check the engraving machine at your local PetSmart or Petco.

I have a collar from PetsMart with a heart-shaped tag attached. However, it's not heavy enough to make noise against the cage when I walk.

Their mini lock is a possibility, but I'm not entirely sure about its quality and durability.
