Greetings everyone! I’m fairly new to this place but have been enjoying reading through the discussions and learning a lot. I own an HTv3 Nano knockoff in Small size, along with several metal devices from DHGate such as the A272 and 271. The main challenge for me has been determining the correct ring size. With the A272 and similar devices, using a 50mm ring causes everything to turn mostly dark red. It isn’t blue or particularly cold, considering how much further out things stick compared to my body. However, it doesn’t look very healthy. The HT knockoffs produce a disturbingly bright red that is slightly less deep than expected, likely because their 50mm rings are actually wider in some dimensions. When I wear a shorter cage, the redness appears worse; I assume this happens because more tissue gets compressed inside. My flaccid length is about 2 inches from the bottom (ranging between 1.75 and 2.25 inches depending on weather, time of day, etc.). The HT Nano and other short metal cages tend to cause slightly more redness overall, although I appreciate how they reduce visible bulging. I’d love to hear what others have experienced. Do you usually end up with very red genitals while locked down but not aroused? Does that suggest a larger ring is necessary? I would be happy to invest in a custom device if only I could find affordable knockoffs with bigger rings first, just to see if that setup works better for me. Most of the inexpensive Chinese devices cap out at 50mm rings. Thanks, Dan
It seems you have chosen the wrong ring size. To me, dark red indicates that the device or ring is too tight. I currently use custom devices but started with CB-6000s; once I found a good fit there, I went slightly smaller for the smoother and thinner steel rings made by Steelworxx. You might find it helpful to try a CB-style device where you can mix and match several size combinations to establish a comfortable baseline. It will require some trial and error to get the perfect fit. For what it's worth, even when my A271 ring was around the same diameter as my custom rings, I had fitting issues because of its thicker, flatter shape. I could wear it during the day, but nights were brutal, especially with morning erections.
Trial and error seems to be the best approach. There shouldn't be significant discoloration or pain involved. The ring needs to be tight enough so it doesn't slide down, but shape also matters. I've had better success with round rings, though some people prefer oval ones. Even with custom devices, your body may change over time. For instance, after about six months in a custom cage that was initially perfect for me, I needed to go smaller.
Thanks for the replies and suggestions! I've tested round rings, ergonomic designs, as well as what you might call HT-style rings. Trial and error has helped so far, but there's one thing I haven't figured out how to try cost-effectively: a ring larger than 50mm. Most of the eBay and DHGate devices I've seen max out at 50mm, which is exactly what I have been using. A 45mm fits me, but it feels uncomfortable and isn't great for circulation. Brands like MCN, Mature Metal, and Holy Trainer offer larger ring options, yet I'd hate to spend the money on a custom device only to discover later that my ring size was incorrect. The experimentation continues for now!
MCN and MM (I believe) have suggested test rings or provided links to them. It's a very inexpensive way to check sizing. I tried three different sizes for the MCN device myself. Good luck! The HT Nub ring still confuses me when it comes to sizing.

One of the challenges I've been having is figuring out which ring is the right size for me. I have also tried several metal devices from DHGate, since I don't plan on using chastity heavily—just more like a novelty item (similar to how I'd enjoy being tied up spread eagle in bed and at someone's mercy, though not necessarily for long periods, lol). However, I've had the opposite problem of yours; my body seems to have adjusted by needing tighter rings over time (I believe I mentioned this on another thread). So I started with a 48mm ring because that matched the CB-6000s size, but it was useless for locking since it slipped right off. I then got rings in sizes 40, 42, and 44 mm. Initially, I faced similar issues to you regarding the 40mm ring; it was actually quite difficult to get my testicles through the opening. When arousal occurred, the color turned purple, so I took it off immediately. Nowadays, slipping on the 40mm is easy (as long as it's not cold, in which case my scrotum "protests" the caging process), but I still experience some slippage issues, particularly during showers. So now I'm wondering if I can handle an even smaller size, perhaps around 38mm. I agree that ring size is indeed the key to a good chastity cage setup. Good luck!
I also own an HTv3 Small knockoff and feel like I would be more comfortable in a 55mm ring, but I refuse to spend the money until I am sure. Please share if you find a solution; I will do the same.
