Holy Trainer genuine model compared to cheaper duplicates

Has anyone here used both the genuine Holy Trainer and a cheaper imitation? I’m comparing: … y-shop.asp Against … 5337407549 I’m willing to spend more for better quality, but I question if the price gap is justified. Also, does the HoD version just seem like a pricey Chinese duplicate that might be even cheaper on AliExpress? Thanks everyone.

I've owned both in the V4 nub size. The official one was crafted much better but it split (twice—the first break plus its only replacement unit; both lasted less than six months). For me, the knock-off smelled strongly of cheap plastic, making it uncomfortable to wear. Additionally, the 36mm A-ring didn't fit at all despite being what I needed, and the 40mm option was warped. Eventually, I wore the official 36mm A-ring paired with a stainless steel imitation nub tube so I could avoid splitting issues. Ultimately, however, realizing that none of these allow for more than a few days of continuous wear without needing to remove them for cleaning pushed me back toward a stainless steel open cage. Now I can go months at a time without problems. It actually features a hinged A-ring, which initially made me hesitant, but it has held up well and is the first small enough ring for my needs. So personally, I'd recommend buying an imitation since you'll likely replace it soon anyway, and they usually come with several rings to test out. You can definitely find identical units at lower prices on DHGate, which would be my go-to place, but keep shipping times in mind as they can be quite long from China post-pandemic. I've tried both and would recommend spending the extra on the authentic version. The main issue I faced with the knock-off was how well the ring fit against the tube. It took a good amount of filing to get them aligned properly for the lock to engage correctly. This misalignment created some play, resulting in a gap that was larger than intended.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm currently using an MM jailbird which works well for long-term wear, but I want something more compact (nano or nub) for shorter stints when I prefer not to have the bulk of the jailbird.

HoD does indeed sell Chinese duplicates, but you pay extra for them. I chose to use theirs because they keep items in stock locally, meaning delivery takes just a day or two rather than weeks or months. I wear steel devices and find the quality excellent with no rough edges to cause chafing. My experience with HoD's Holy Trainer was that the fit between the tube and ring wasn't great.
