Who else has a Mature Metal cage currently in production or on order right now?

After two years of experimenting with Chinese-made gadgets, my wife finally got properly annoyed. The one I’m wearing at the moment is working well for me (though she knows full well that I am capable of picking the lock).

So… on January 2nd, she placed an order for a Jailbird. In recent weeks, I’ve noticed about four other members mentioning they were either considering buying one or had already ordered.

Who else has a device currently in production alongside ours?

Second question: I’m impatient but too timid to send an email asking simply, “How is everything going?”:) If you bought from Mature Metal, what was the waiting period like? I spoke with them directly and they quoted six weeks, noting that if delays occur, they put in extra hours to meet that deadline. (The phone call itself wasn’t great though; I missed half of what she said because her cell signal seemed weak.)

How many people are about to find themselves locked into this permanent-looking contraption?

I can’t comment on shipping durations, but I’ve been using a MM JailBird since 2010. If you’re skilled at lockpicking like I am, bypassing the **lock** is easy enough. (Plus, the small **padlocks** that come with these devices—or bought anywhere—are all easily bypassed in under two seconds.) I **highly** suggest ordering some steel cable seals (not an affiliate link) if you and your wife are serious about keeping you faithful. You can check my FL for pictures of my setup, including the PA security cable I crafted for it. With those **padlock** cables in place instead of a traditional key lock, I haven’t found any way out. I’ve worn this configuration continuously for over a month without removing it and had no problems. Good luck with your new device:-)

Yeah, I have the security screw installed, and it sits recessed into the body. I believe that will handle things nicely. I paid extra for that feature... let’s hope it works out. Pliers won’t get a grip on it anymore, and I don’t think a standard security Torx bit would work without stripping the head. It’s likely softer metal anyway, so damage is possible. We’ll see. There comes a point where I stop messing around with alternatives. My current knockoff device pinches occasionally. The custom one shouldn’t do that because it will fit more precisely (I hope).

For anyone searching later in the future: my wife ordered on Sunday, Jan 2nd, 2022. The package shipped out Wednesday, Feb 9th at 2:30 pm. It was expected to arrive before 9pm on Feb 12th. USPS Priority Mail just updated tracking and says it’s out for delivery TODAY by 5:30 pm. Basically confirming what a few others said—my Mature Metal Jailbird arrived in six weeks minus two days. I almost feel like they timed the shipment intentionally so it would arrive before the weekend! Ugh... farewell to freedom! This morning, when she finally stopped giggling after we discussed USPS delivering it early, I asked her: "So do you want me to take a picture of my phone with the device off?" She replied almost instantly. "No! I have no interest in that. I want to see it locked up!"

Honestly, I can’t recall the exact duration anymore... We’ve bought so many devices. But I know it has never taken us six weeks to receive one. Our first order, back in 2013 if memory serves, probably took the longest. Since then, most have arrived within three to five weeks, depending on whether we ordered a Design or just the Device. It’s not like they operate a massive factory; it’s a small family business with William personally making the cages! 😉

Same here. It took about six weeks for mine to arrive. I received it four days ago and am quite happy with the quality.
