Ring Shape and Comfort

I’ve been mulling over upgrading my current setup or grabbing a brand new device, but one question is really weighing on me. Right now I’m rocking a round Stainless Steel ring. It’s pretty standard and nothing fancy, but it starts to bother me after a while. Usually shifting the ring slightly forward or backward does the trick for a bit. The devices catching my eye lately often feature flat wide rings. To my mind, that ‘wide and flat’ profile feels more comfortable, though I can’t be 100% certain. Has anyone else worn this style and could share their experience? Cheers! Eddie

Honestly, I don't think it's a battle easy to win. My preference is for the moulded ring which is wider BUT my main issue with chastity has been painful sores on the scrotum that take days or even weeks to heal properly. These seem triggered by wide flat rings getting stuck to the skin when heat and sweat build up during physical activity. Moving it then creates a small blister or sore that quickly turns into a painful lesion (best word I can think of). I never had this problem with my old single round stainless steel ring; it might have been less comfortable, but it didn't cause issues!! MsM’s ld

I've tried several different Chinese devices from the A27x series and settled on the A272. Check AliExpress or DHGate to see it; you'll find a cuff ring that is flat in profile, offering more surface area contact with your skin. Definitely more comfortable. Also, viewing it face-on reveals it's slightly oval. The A27x models are very affordable and worth purchasing just to get the feel.

I'm also using a flat wide ring since it dissipates pressure better. Regarding shape, my custom ring is shaped like a "D" with the flat side down. I have quite a bit of loose skin there that folds in on itself. This causes pinching pain during nighttime erections, leading to sores that need healing time. With the "D" shape, the circumference remains snug but allows extra room for the skin to move around, and the corners exert less pressure at night. It's a good solution for easing pain when I wake up.

Another vote in favor of contoured wide rings.

Hey Steve. I've printed lots of different rings just to see what difference it makes. Since these are plastic, the theory should hold similar despite weight differences? A wider ring (double width) slips less. A triple or quadruple width grips tightly like hell. So much so that the ring can actually be a bit bigger. You might have seen my post about an incredibly wide ring; it was excellent but added an inch to the cage, meaning the tube needed shortening. I'm a big fan of ergonomic shapes and prefer integral lock setups. But I've looked at this wide round one before and thought it would look quite decent. For what it's worth, I think it would be an improvement over the slim ring and wouldn't shift as much.

Seems like most people don't really get along with round rings that much; I suspect there are various reasons for this. A wider, more flattened-out ring seems to be the direction to go. More research is needed of course, but I've found a few designs that I quite like, so we shall see... Eddie

When it was just a single ring, my sack would Have intense point pressure. If I didn't have to be without it, I'd send it back to get a fourth ring added.

Its not really surprising that most people don't like circular rings.... cause your anatomy isn't shaped in a circle. @UltraWhiteStar has the right idea with the upside down 'D' shaped ring, and I basically took that concept further with my Evo's base ring shape. It actually inspired where my logo came from. I should also note, which again @UltraWhiteStar touches on correctly: different scrotum "hangs" will require different ring shapes too. Most people experience ball burn because the skin gets contorted by the ring and subsequently stretched, typically in the center of the underside of the scrotum where the skin is a bit shorter. That's why I ask for testicle hang measurements when ordering as I customize the shape depending on where a customer needs extra room for the scrotum to sit more comfortably. As for ring width, yes generally a wider ring is going to be more comfortable simply because, when fitted well, it spreads out the contact area more reducing any pressure points. Though, there's a misconception that it should be the base ring holding the cage in place (and that's why people often go dangerously tight with their base ring) when in reality it should be the cage holding itself in place and the base ring is just there to prevent it from being taken off.

Thanks @BlackoutDevices . I came up with this shape because I experienced that pinching pain at the lower sides of the base ring. I took the circumference of a 50 mm ring which does not give me pinching pain and combined it with the 46 mm diameter of a base ring that sits comfortably snug. The result is a „D“ shape that slightly bulges beyond the 46 mm at the corners of the „D“, similar to, but less pronounced than @BlackoutDevices ‘s logo.

I've tried some super wide rings and had to go much shorter on cage length. I believe the ring does count as part of the overall length.

So, adding a 2nd 50mm ring to the current one (JB-Weld, something) is a far cheaper option than buying a completely new device, and might actually serve the purpose I am looking for. Anyone have thoughts on this? Eddie

When I went to a triple base from single, I was also shortening my cage. I worked with Mistress Traci at Mature Metal on all the sizing. My sense is no, you don't shorten the cage as all my extra rings really do is fill the space between my body and the original single ring. The cage hung down and naturally moved fwd away from my body. Now it always touches my body even when hanging down. The cage should already be short enough that your cock touches the end of the cage when flaccid and standing with relaxed ball sack. Highly recommend you reach out to Mature Metal for guidance.
