When we first launched this community, most members accessed it from their home computers or laptops. Mobile technology has improved significantly since then—tablets and smartphones are much better now—and more users have switched to those devices. As we consider upgrading our forum software from PHBBB to a newer platform, we want to understand how you all - particularly your most engaged participants - prefer to read the site. Please share your thoughts after taking the poll.

The phone works fine for quick checks and posting short updates, but it’s not very handy when writing longer messages. I like having a full-sized keyboard, so I stick with my laptop.

I use everything - it's mainly my desktop computer (yes, I know!) rather than my laptop, but also my iPad and iPhone when I'm away from my desk. Like Herbi mentioned, typing on a real keyboard is much easier than using a mobile device.

I only use my iPad, which isn't connected to any other devices except via WiFi. I enjoy using my PC for gaming, shopping, and email, but all the “helpers” and extensions Microsoft has added mean that everything I do on it gets copied somewhere and stored in the cloud.

I almost always use my laptop. The phone is just too small and fiddly for me, though I sometimes browse on it. I rarely post from it.

I use my iPad. My laptop broke a year ago and I’m refusing to buy another one.

My phone. I actually type faster on my phone than on my computer. There are a few weird autocorrect errors now and then, but that’s a small price to pay.

iPad. I don’t even use my phone for browsing anymore.

99% of the time it’s my phone, specifically an iPhone. If I need to write something long, I draft it in a notes app on my phone first, then copy and paste it over while editing the formatting. Occasionally, I might switch to a device with a real keyboard, but I’ve gotten quite good at composing directly on my phone.

Phone browser. I don’t care for forum apps much. Always use privacy mode.

Brave browser on iPhone

I use both my PC and phone. Probably more on my phone these days, but I prefer the PC because it’s easier to see things clearly. Now you know why I’m old.

Usually my laptop, sometimes my phone... I agree with snooper that a larger screen makes reading posts easier than on one where the text is squeezed into tiny sides.

Definitely my phone. I’ve been following since January this year and finally figured out how to join (I also didn’t get email confirmations after signing up). Great group with great information.

I’m not sure why emails aren't being sent out either.

Phone for browsing and tablet for reading and replying. I always use the Brave browser app to protect my privacy. I’d be hesitant to download specific forum apps due to privacy and security concerns, but I would love an updated website-based forum!

Laptop/PC with a 24" external monitor. The phone is too small and I only use it when traveling or if there’s no other option.

I didn’t get emails either, but since I can log in it works for me. I use both mobile (Android/Chrome) and laptop (Win10/Chrome) for reading and writing.
