Hello all. I’m new to the group but wanted to post about my work so others can enjoy a high-quality, affordable chastity device experience. If you’re like me and don’t want to spend hundreds on a custom unit, I might have found the solution for you: a highly secure, practical, and incredibly comfortable device suitable for long-term locking.
The Steelheart is my ideal choice, especially with some personal tweaks.
Like many others, I started with the CB6000. It was cool at first until I developed pain in the back of the scrotum that limited wear time. Then there were skin irritations from the side openings as tissue protruded through them, along with broken rings and cracked tubes. Don’t forget the odor issues and the difficulty urinating while standing.
Next up was the Birdlocked. Once you adapt to it, it’s comfortable, but smells and peeing remain challenges. It does allow for squeezing and self-stimulation, and re-insertion is straightforward. However, my Key Holder (KH) disliked that the ring is integrated into the main unit; she prefers being able to remove just the cage while leaving the ring in place.
Both my KH and I wanted a device where I couldn’t easily reach that sensitive spot under the glans to free myself. She also wants minimal penis exposure, severely limiting what I can feel, with security comparable to base-ring devices, meeting as many of our criteria as possible. For her, any device exposing the penis to touch is unacceptable. It also needs to look good.
The Jailhouse steel unit was our next stop. I bought one cheaply on Amazon and loved how it felt; my wife liked its appearance. Unfortunately, issues arose quickly. This is the model I modified, which I’m currently wearing and will continue to wear long-term. Here are details on the modifications that transformed it into an excellent device for me. It’s not flawless, but very nice. My KH and I are thrilled.
Since I tinker in my shop frequently, modifying one takes a few hours. I tested two prototypes until I got them right. Figuring this out took some time. I used simple tools so others could replicate the process. Attached are photos of a prototype and what I’m wearing now; it looks like a winner and performs well too. Most importantly for me, urination is normal.
The Problems:
- The rings welded at the inner bottom create tight spaces with rough spots. After over a week of wear, sores developed on the underside of my penis, and dirt accumulated there.
- A bar runs from the top to the center hole at the head, blocking the pee slit and rendering the supposed pee hole useless.
- The lower glans fits into the cage tip, allowing access to that sweet spot for touch or licking during orgasm.
- The length is too long for my soft penis, causing painful erections inside. This likely affects most men using off-the-shelf devices.
- Escape and re-insertion are relatively easy (which can be a problem).
Cage Fixes:
- Compressed the rings closer together to shorten the tube length, fitting my penis better.
- Cut out the bar from the top of the tube down to the center pee hole and filed it smooth. Now I can pee anywhere anytime easily; it feels like not wearing a cage at all.
- Filled the spaces between the inner rings with JB Weld to create a solid tube, solving rough welds and dirt traps.
- Sealed the four bottom triangles of the cage tip to block access to that sweet spot.
It’s very easy to keep clean using foam swabs, allowing for long-term wear without odors (except for the A&D ointment I use on the base ring). Stimulating yourself is nearly impossible. Since Jailhouse uses steel, the small amount of JB Weld adds negligible weight. It’s barely noticeable with pants on.
Most importantly, I designed an effective anti-pullout mechanism. The key to this setup is visible in the photos; it’s a rough unfinished PVC prototype but works well. I might try ABS plastic later. It serves several purposes:
- Keeps the glans positioned at all times (hard or soft), aiding easy peeing and reducing erection pain, especially nocturnal ones. In the photo, I am completely flaccid, yet the anti-pullout keeps the head to the cage tip.
- Pulling out is very difficult (though not impossible); getting back in with this prototype is nearly impossible.
- Allows use of a comfortable ring size for long-term wear, eliminating the need to downsize rings purely for security, which often causes unbearable erections.
I have a newer modified PVC anti-pullout in my current cage but can’t photograph it easily. I tried an aluminum one that seemed good, but skin reaction forced me back to PVC. You could get out if you really wanted, but the pain isn’t worth it; having experienced it, I won’t do it just for proof. On the upside, once out, getting back in is hard—at least for me.
Attached are pics of my rough prototype and myself wearing the current device. The modifications on me aren’t very noticeable, and my KH loves the look. Comments are welcome! Feel free to message if you need more info.
I also like experimenting with these affordable cages to see if they can be improved. I had a similar cage but with a larger pee-through hole. Eventually, I stopped trying to fix it because even in the bath, soapy water allowed me to pull out. If your cage is chrome-plated mild steel, beware after cutting: I found that chrome continued to flake where breached, causing discomfort. My current cage (from eBay) attaches to a homemade belt. It’s all stainless steel except for a nylon tube connecting front and back. My KH/GF has me wearing it 24/7 now; she decides when I get out. Still have more work to do on mine for extra security, but it’s surprisingly comfortable.
GREAT JOB!!!! I LOVE the idea of customizing these cheap cages!!! The concentric ring designs are particularly good for this! My only complaint is that I lack the tools to make a secure PA (permanent attachment) fix.... I have ideas but haven't realized them yet.... Not an expert, but... I 'THINK' those devices with solid rings like the Jailbird 'MAY' be chrome plated.... Watch out for rust! I've found hinged ring models to be better quality steel... Like the A080! But that's just my humble opinion! Once again, GREAT job and thanks for sharing!! With kind regards, J.
Thanks for the replies. Hey richlockedup, please send me a link to that stainless device from eBay if it's truly stainless. I'd love to experiment with one. Having worked on enough of these units, I know about chrome issues and have addressed them sufficiently so peeling or rusting is rare. A touch of JB Weld on compromised areas seals the deal. I've been in my current pictured device for over 9 months almost 24/7; you can see how well it holds up. I have another ready to go if this one fails. Buying these and making easy mods saves me $400-$500 compared to buying a custom unit that might not perform as well. A major point for me is anti-pullout. When I got the CB6000, I also ordered KSD anti-pullouts. The pain was too much; they cut me badly and weren't really a solution. Looking at custom metal units, many use spike-like or narrow anti-pullouts that create nasty pressure points, causing bruises and cuts—also not ideal. Through trial and error, I realized the anti-pullout needs to cover a large surface area and conform to both the cage shape and penis roundness. This allows for minimal pain when aroused and no cuts or bruising. Another key factor is that once inserted, it compresses your penis near the back of the cage, holding the glans firmly against the tip. The photos show a rough early prototype; it works quite well. If you are totally flaccid and soaped up, you can pull out. If not fully flaccid, it's very difficult. Re-inserting while totally flaccid is possible but tedious regardless of soap, and trust me, it doesn't feel great. Not totally flaccid? Impossible to get back in. My current design/prototype makes pulling out (even when flaccid) extremely difficult. Could you do it? Probably, but the pain wouldn't be worth it. It won't happen at all if not completely flaccid. Don't even think about getting back under any other circumstance.
Hi chastingfun, here is the ebay link
