Curious to know how many folks here build their own devices, whether partially or completely? Right now I’ve crafted a base ring for my Chinese-made cage. The cage itself is very comfortable, but the original base ring was giving me trouble. No matter what approach I took—the silicone sleeve, plastic tubing, even medical tape—nothing prevented it from breaking the skin at the back of my scrotum. So I went back to check on my first cage (a chrome-plated sex store POS). It remained quite comfy despite not being stainless steel. Then I picked up some SS rings from a marine supply shop and did some welding, filing, and polishing. Here is how it turned out. The base sits very comfortably now. My key for the lock is essentially unusable because it’s positioned on the lock’s shackle:-), but it doesn’t dig into my skin. There’s no loose post holding everything together, so nothing swings around and digs in when I bend over, which is fairly important given my job as a truck driver for a printing company.

It looks pretty tight, so I'll be interested to see how it holds up long term. I also rounded off the edges on my lock since my wife complained about them.:) Well done, I think all devices currently on the market have room for improvement. Dianne

The pictures were taken while I was coming down from morning wood:), so yes, it does look tight. In reality, I plan on trying a smaller base ring soon because there is quite a bit of free play with the current 50mm setup. Wearing it this way for three weeks full-time, I barely notice it most of the time.

It looks good and there has obviously been some thought and effort put into its conception development. It appears to be a lot better than some of the commercially available options.

It's a work in progress. The cage works for now but I want some other features added to it. So I'll be welding up a new one soon. Currently the tip has a threaded part for a urethral insert, but it pinches the skin when I use my PA through it. That needs addressing. And I want something on the base to stop the padlock from moving around so much. Possibly making it more of an oval shape as well, although the offset of the three rings currently kind of gives it that oval shape already.

In my opinion, a major problem with almost all base rings on these devices is that they are oriented in two dimensions. Regardless of thickness (double or triple rings for example), the back of the ring is basically flat when it should be curved, with the bottom bending backward underneath the body. The result of this "flat" design is that erections push the ring forward, creating pressure and friction on the scrotum at the bottom. I think you did a good job making your own ring, but it looks like the bottom pushes the scrotum forward quite a bit. My suggestion is to shape the ring to fit the curve at the bottom of the abdomen, allowing the ring to bend backward at its base.

I'll give that a try. I'm heading down to my workshop shortly so I'll see what can be done. Thanks for the suggestion.

I too have been experimenting with DIY belts and cages. My latest attempt incorporates a cheap Chinese eBay cage along with a custom PA bar lock that prevents pullout. So far it is very effective. Photo in the link: the referenced community page

Interesting idea. Does the PA bar pinch at all?

Here is what I got done this afternoon. Still a few bits to be welded on but I've run out of time for now. A bit more filing and a lot of polishing still need to happen. [[Image: 2015-04-29 17.46.13.png]](the referenced community page)

I formed the PA locking bar in a bench vice and got it into the right shape so that when I lock it on, there is zero movement of the bar. My PA BCR loops over the end of this bar inside the cage; it could rattle around if there was more space, but because it fits quite snugly, I have had no pinching issues. I did try to cheat and reach orgasm by shaking my cage very vigorously once and came, though at a price - my pee hole was sore for 3 days so I won't be doing that again!

My attempts at arc welding stainless steel for my first belt didn't work.

I used an arc welder, but I sourced 316 Stainless welding rods and always warm the rods up by striking an arc on some scrap steel first. Otherwise, the rod tends to stick to the stainless.
