While digging into the link between dopamine and orgasm, I found this piece. It offers a fascinating look at the Neurochemistry of Sex, suggesting that sex without reaching climax is actually optimal for keeping a partnership strong. A lot of what’s discussed here resonates with my own reading on (BDSM)chastity. The article highlights several traditional methods—such as Tantra, Taoist sexuality, and Karezza—but doesn’t specifically name the kind of (BDSM)chastity we discuss in this community. Still, it feels clear that the core principles are identical. THIS COULD ALSO BE AN EXCELLENT METHOD TO BRING YOUR PARTNER INTO CHASTITY WITHOUT THE INTIMIDATING ASPECT OF BDSM. Below are two excerpts from “Part 1”:
Quote: “In casual sex, climax is usually seen as the end goal. Wilhelm Reich was the pioneer in defining orgasm’s role and essence as a release of surplus bio-energy alongside emotional freedom, while also noting the downsides of restricted sexual energy. To add to the thrill of these peaks, orgasms often trigger significant negative side effects that we are only recently starting to grasp fully. These stem from consistent hormonal shifts common across mammals, which help achieve evolutionary goals like broadening gene pools and securing child-rearing success through specific neurochemical adjustments.”
Quote: “The classic answer is loving intercourse without climax. This approach supports stable oxytocin levels by avoiding the emotional ups-and-downs caused by orgasm’s intense chemical swings. It has been used in Indian Tantra, Chinese Taoism, and likely among early Christians today. More recently, it has reappeared as Karezza, White Tantra, and other types of spiritual sex. This practice nurtures relationships rather than pulling them apart like frequent climaxing does, though bonding through orgasm is still possible.”
