Full Belts discussion

I’m looking to buy a Neosteel male system hipband belt. I’ve got the measuring kit and want to verify that my measurements are accurate. My main question is about how tight the band should fit. Following the instructions, I wrapped a leather belt around my hips. At one notch setting, the belt shifts up slightly but doesn’t drop down. On the next tighter notch, it stays firmly in place with no movement at all and clearly leaves an impression on my hips. Wearing this leather strap at that snugger notch doesn’t cut off circulation either. Does anyone have advice on whether to aim for a looser or tighter fit? Naturally, I want the Neosteel belt to be secure yet practical for daily wear.
