Site announcements and information discussion

Every time I reload the page or switch to a different forum area, my chat session drops. There’s a tiny triangle in the bottom right corner where the ‘who is online’ list usually sits, and it prompts me with a sign-in message for the chat. Do I need to log out completely and then back in again to resolve this?
