In my view, the back ring should be solid instead of hinged because hinged rings tend to pinch more. Regarding size: measure when he is completely flaccid. For the back ring size, go around both the ball sack and penis; it needs to be snug but not tight. The usual cage length measurement is his flaccid length minus 1/4 inch. The diameter should also be snug but not tight while flaccid. You can use string or similar tools for these measurements.
