I’m looking for some other people’s thoughts on a question. My wife and I have previously used two types of leather cock rings: one that simply encircles the penis and scrotum, and another style with an added divider specifically for the testicles. Recently, though, I acquired a 2” steel ring included in a harness set. The harness itself wasn’t great, so I tossed it into my ‘so-so junk drawer,’ but I kept the ring because I wanted to try using it as a cock ring.
Before starting this experiment, two concerns were on my mind: if the fit is too tight, it might restrict blood return, and you need to watch for symptoms like coldness in the penis. Here are my observations so far and what I’d like feedback on.
I’m somewhat below average size—about 1.5” wide and roughly 5.5” long when erect. We found that sliding each testicle through individually, then guiding the rest of the shaft through while semi-erect (using a bit of lube or saliva), works best for me. It’s functional but can be uncomfortable without lubrication. The majority of the sensation is focused on the balls, which I actually enjoy as part of the overall experience. Once it’s in place, my testicles feel quite sensitive; if positioned incorrectly, there seems to be a slight pinching effect, causing persistent pain in my left ball no matter how I shift things around. Adjusting them slightly usually resolves this.
Secondly, after wearing the ring for some time, I can confirm that both arterial inflow and venous outflow are unimpeded because I can achieve an erection quickly and return to a flaccid state (though there is a slight delay in going soft). However, my penis does feel noticeably colder compared to the surrounding skin. Since none of my close contacts have specific experience with this issue, I know that coldness indicates reduced capillary blood flow, but I’m unsure whether this causes significant damage or not. It’s difficult for me to say exactly how long I’ve worn it previously, but I estimate around 20-30 minutes at the higher end.
So, what I really want to ask is: I’ve seen steel rings up to 2” in diameter (though perhaps larger ones exist if one looks harder), and given my dimensions—even though I have a large scrotum—I assume 2” should suffice. Do any of you with experience using the 2” size have thoughts on this? I don’t believe tissue damage would occur at the surface capillary level within that 20-30 minute window, nor am I overly worried about it even if blood flow to the testicles is significantly reduced. Is it relatively safe to continue wearing it for these durations, or should I switch to a larger ring (like 2.25”) for longer wear times?
The main advantage of steel and other solid rings over leather straps is that they don’t dig into my skin as much, particularly when I’m shaved—which happens about 95% of the time. Also, I prefer the aesthetic of steel to that of leather. For us, these cock rings are primarily used during CBT; I enjoy it, and she clearly takes pleasure in making me squirm. CBT tends to make me writhe more than harsher physical discipline does.
I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm or come across as negative or nagging, but if the ring causes you even minor discomfort, you probably shouldn't keep using it. This is especially true when dealing with the testicles. It might not be immediately apparent now, but issues can impact long-term health. There are likely many rings available in various sizes to choose from. I would just take more time to find the one that fits perfectly.
That aligns with how we've been approaching it; we don't use it constantly, and I'm aware of the potential consequences. The key difference between this steel ring and leather is that despite the leather cutting into my skin, I never feel there's a real problem or worry about it. While wearing it, I can go fully flaccid without it slipping off, and if applied correctly, it holds both testicles securely. Someone suggested comparing the inner diameter to the outer diameter more closely, which might be relevant here. I'm also keeping an eye out for either a 2.25" ring or a source that offers custom sizing.
