Hello everyone, I usually go with an authentic HTv2, but the base ring on my current one has developed cracks. I’ve switched to a Chinese knockoff version of the HTv2 that I picked up at a reasonable price so I can test out various base ring sizes. (The Ch-versions come with the tube and all possible rings for just a fraction of what you pay for an authentic HTv2.) They are very comfortable, but the petroleum scent is terrible—a real downside and even concerning regarding potential health issues. So I did some Googling and worry that this material might be toxic, meaning it will likely come off again because I don’t want to take any risks. Does anyone else share this experience with plastic Chinese knockoff devices? Or am I overthinking it? (Since I’m not an expert on toxic substances, I prefer to be extra cautious.) Thanks in advance for your feedback, Felix
