Locked In Lust - The vice discussion

i use the vice short cage. usually about a week at a time with a brief rest in between. the other morning i woke up hard on day two, which is typical, but managed to push the device off. i am using the largest spacer and ring available. my question: should i go down in ring size or reduce the spacer?
