Hello there! I’m starting a journal thread here to share my progress, the hurdles I face, and lessons learned while exploring 3D design and printing. To kick things off: Today marked the completion of my first prototype device, created using ABS filament. It’s essentially a cage structure with an extra belt attached. The inspiration came from the CS-100 belt, though I had some gripes with that model. This led me to sketch out a design tailored for my needs. This places more material around it. I reasoned this would provide better stability for a 3D-printed part. After wearing it, I realized the tube was too long, causing its profile to bulge noticeably against my trousers. Also, unfortunately, one of the locks broke off due to poor layer adhesion. It wasn’t crucial, but it would have been a useful feature. ABS seems somewhat finicky for printing. The main problem was separation between layers; specifically, the start of the tube detached at its connection point to the locking mechanism. [[Image: DSC_0136.JPG]](the referenced community page) The good news is that acetone welding can repair this issue. So today I crafted a second version. It will be printed over the upcoming weekend, featuring a tube angled more toward the body and shortened by roughly 1.5 cm. For the printing process, I am pushing the nozzle temperature up to 250°C and turning off the cooling fan for the print head. This should help the layers bond together more effectively. P.S.: My printer is an “Anycubic Kossel Linear Plus” delta model, which appears to be quite a bargain at 270€!

Hopefully 250°C is sufficient heat - definitely turn off the part fan. ABS can be just as tricky, or even more so than Nylon (depending on your specific filament) - I switched to printing all my prototypes in PETG. It's almost as strong as ABS but suffers from far fewer printing issues. Your design looks great and has a nice form, though it is very enclosed.

It turns out 250°C was actually too hot for the specific brand of ABS I'm using. The plastic ended up with some scorched spots. So I dropped it back down to 245°C, but keeping the part fan off did the job. The layers are sticking together much better now. I've been considering switching to PET-G as well, but my goal is to print chastity devices that I can actually wear for real use, not just prototypes. ABS can be smoothed out using readily available acetone to achieve a sleek surface finish. With PET-G, the surface might not get quite that smooth, which could lead to chafing when wearing the device long-term. But I agree, for prototypes and items where absolute surface perfection isn't critical, PET-G is an excellent choice! Regarding the enclosure: Well... I'm still gaining experience with 3D printing and CAD. Designing a durable cage that maintains this specific tube shape has been challenging. That might be my next project after I refine the tube design further. ^_^ Update on my progress: I finished printing version 3 today, which is currently undergoing a test run. In version 2, the tube sat too close to the ring, pinching some skin between them, and remained too long. So I increased the gap slightly between the tube and the ring and shortened it further. It seems I've hit on the right length, and the pinching issue is resolved. I'll know tomorrow if it holds up overnight without breaking or damaging my skin.
