Self-locking has always intrigued me… mostly because I realize I probably couldn’t manage it on my own. I was reading another thread where ‘Sarah’ mentioned you can purchase a device for $500 that acts as an internet-controlled key safe. This feels quite pricey, so I’m curious: are self-lockers motivated enough to spend that amount? greetings everyone

**is a cheap lock box perhaps too inexpensive?** It has always been my view that if you don't have a keyholder, you need something else to prevent cheating. I spotted on fleabay a small plastic **key**box where once closed, the only way to retrieve the **key** was to smash it apart, meaning you'd pay the cost of the box just to get out. It was around $10; some people might dislike constantly discarding $10 boxes, while for others it's negligible. At what price point do you say "I don't want to break into it because it costs me!"? I've constructed **timer** safes and other contraptions and am currently working on an internet-controlled device to secure a **key**. There are various methods, but they require some electronic know-how. One simpler approach is buying a small electronic safe and rewiring it for a USB board that can be managed online; this would run you $100 - $200. I've voted that the proposed $500 is way too much:)

As I mentioned in my review of the KeySafe, if you can wield a soldering iron, you can assemble a fully functional internet-controlled **key**safe for about $200. It could be less if you're a hobbyist with scrap materials lying around—perhaps under $100. Is that such a heavy price to truly surrender control? Isn't it every **chastity** dream? I am building, as a side project, an even more sophisticated version—even though I already possess a working keysafe. If I were to sell mine, I'd aim for around $750... which is substantial! Why bother, you ask? a) I enjoy programming and tinkering with electronics. b) I believe the manufactured KeySafe overlooks many cool features I would want in a **key** safe. Mine operates autonomously—it has its own web server and email capabilities. It features a 3" touch-sensitive screen that allows the box to display (or hide, at the keyholder's discretion) functions such as: 1) The chastity contract 2> Teasing comments 3) A countdown **timer** until the next unlock 4) Emergency release codes 5) Upcoming assignments—like picture proof of tasks and stories—which upload via its web function so the KH can remotely manage their submissive. It works both connected to the safe and standalone... though obviously, you must connect it to actually open the box. Most importantly, I don't have to rely on a website that might vanish at any time. It's an enjoyable challenge, even if I never quite finish it. But back to the question: "How much would you pay?" Being locked up and out of control is a hobby I genuinely enjoy. Consider your other hobbies and what they cost annually. Isn't this essentially the same? A friend is a devoted football (soccer) fan who spends thousands over the year following his team around the country to watch them play. Personally, I think he's mad, but he balances the expense with the enjoyment it brings. Using that as an evaluation basis, now how much would you pay?

I love the concept of a USB computer internet interface. The possibilities for remote KHs run through my mind; and while $500 is certainly significant, if it were very high quality & highly secure. The price itself would be another reason not to break into it. I've used the time-lock program with a **key** lock box from Home Depot, but the issue is that unless one has to answer to a KH for breaching the box, it's actually too easy to drill out the **lock**. Something a self-locker might reconsider if they spend 5 bills on it versus say $25-30 for a standard key lock box. Can a kink cost too much? Hmmmm I say if you can afford it, go ahead and do it.
