I’ve been using poppers for just a few weeks now and I’m really enjoying them! My habit is to inhale through one nostril while keeping the other closed. I feel that warmth, see my eyes mist over, get that rush lasting about a minute, and then I stop. I have three questions.
First off - Is this method optimal? I’ve read discussions regarding tissues and masks, but the bottle instructions suggest leaving it open to let fumes fill the room. Does this provide a better overall effect by being diluted yet longer-lasting (presumably good for partners too - my wife isn’t as keen on them as I am), or is that more intense, shorter burst approach superior?
Secondly - Am I stopping too early? What happens if I keep sniffing after that initial rush (for example, 3 or 4 deep breaths)? Does the effect last longer become stronger/different etc.
Third - How do different types compare in strength? Is there a straightforward way to distinguish weak from strong like with alcohol, or is it mostly about taking shop advice and hoping for the best. Perhaps it’s one of those personal preference things where you find what suits you and stick with it? Apologies if that was quite long! I’d appreciate any ideas and thoughts!

If it's an active play session, I'd recommend leaving the bottle open in the room. > Secondly - Am I stopping too early? So by sniffing more, you're essentially topping up your supply. > Third - How do different types compare in strength? These are typically made using amyl nitrate. In the UK though, most contain butyl nitrate which isn't quite as potent. The shop you buy from should normally be able to guide you. > Apologies if that was quite long! I'd appreciate any ideas and thoughts! > > f x > Click to expand... Hope this is helpful, Also, here are some links that might come in handy:
That's excellent information and thank you for the links - they are very useful. Thanks once again:o)
I would argue that letting the room fill with fumes is quite risky because as you get higher, an increasingly dangerous concentration keeps entering your system. Direct sniffing from the bottle is definitely the way to go. Personally, I find poppers eliminate many brain cells and give me a headache during the comedown. Also, remember: You shouldn't need chemical aids just to enjoy being with your significant other.
OK, here comes the naive young girl... but, What on earth is a "popper"?:interrogation:
Poppers are a chemical you sniff from a bottle that produces a very strong rush, similar to many hard drugs, though it only lasts for a few minutes. They are legal and available at most sex shops. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend them.
Yikes. Sounds like inhaling paint thinner or something similar. Please be cautious. It just sounds quite dangerous.
"Poppers" is a street term for amyl nitrate (spelling seems off in common usage; check the link below).

Amyl Nitrate metabolizes into Nitrous Oxide. That's the same compound dentists use to knock you out. Very safe. Just don't go overboard or you'll suffer headaches for a few days.
Poppers are not "very safe" if, like me, you have a high pulse rate. I also agree with what someone said earlier - you shouldn't need drugs to enjoy your significant other. Being with any of my partners (grin) is easily enough of a rush for me.
Who said you needed them?
It's been years since I used them, but if I recall correctly, the rush is pretty good, though not always worth it given the subsequent headache.
Yeah, that has generally been my experience too. I use them once in a blue moon. They do work really well for making me lose an erection though.
I think the crushing sore head alone would be enough to deter anyone. Interestingly, my husband says that flogging - and definitely cane play produces a rush which might be similar (and probably more natural and longer-lasting). Obviously it lacks the immediacy of poppers since you have to build up, but looking back on my younger, more foolish days, I can't help thinking that poppers just destroy brain cells - or maybe that was just being silly and young <sigh>:D
