Hi there,

The locking pin on my Birdlocked Classic just snapped. It seems to be a fairly common issue, but it means I can’t use mine right now. As a temporary fix, I’ve swapped out the whole strap setup with some 8-inch long zip ties and they work fine enough. However, they don’t give that same secure feeling you get from a locked padlock.

Does anyone know where to buy a sturdier locking pin? Ideally something metal. Also, is it possible to fabricate one at home without losing the ability to use the original key and padlock?

Thanks for any advice!

You could trace the shape of the original pin. Then take a large bolt to a grinding wheel until it matches that profile. Drill a hole in the top and you should be all set. PS: For fast silicone repairs, Permatex makes some great clear silicone glue that works really well. Make sure to clean the Birdlocked thoroughly with alcohol before applying it:)
