Bon4 discussion

My CB-6000 just gave out, so I have to lay out the choices for my keyholder. I was putting together a comprehensive list and decided to make sure the Bon4 made the cut. They’re now offering a standard cage (which appears slightly smaller in total size than the original), a large version, and a Plus bundle that includes both cages simultaneously. The ring selection has expanded from three sizes to four, with a narrower profile as well. It also seems less pointed at the tip compared to before. I’m not certain whether this change happened two weeks ago or two months back. Things are a bit murky because several sites still stock the older version. For instance, Extreme restraints lists the old model with three rings for $149 and the Plus variant featuring dual cages plus four rings at $189, though they don’t highlight that distinction clearly.

Has anyone tested the second-generation Bon4 yet? links to their product page. They say they addressed user feedback to improve it, but I’m hesitant to splurge on new hardware right now, particularly since my primary device is currently out of commission.

That sounds intriguing. It would be great if you could purchase just the cage unit; I still have the original and would happily drop around $50 more to test the larger size. However, I’m unwilling to pay full retail price again.

My other worry is the lack of a unique name for the new version, which makes it tricky to identify what you’re buying when ordering from third-party retailers rather than their official site. They can’t control how others market the product, but surely it wouldn't have been difficult to call it the Bon4 2? Haha, or maybe even the Bon5?

We just purchased the newest BON4 model. I’ve documented our experience in my blog post here: The main takeaway is that putting it on is a nightmare. The rings now feature 'belt hoops' designed to prevent the locking belt from slipping off. It’s an acceptable device, but knowing how difficult installation was beforehand might have made me hold back on spending the money. Personally, I think nothing beats a solid metal cage; they look fantastic and feel wonderful too. I currently own a CB6000 along with an unused tube that I plan to list on EBAY soon.
