CB Range discussion

I was browsing the site and noticed they’ve introduced a few updates for this year:

• There’s now a Chrome variant of the CB-6000s. However, you won’t find camo or wood options.
• They’ve expanded the ring sizes! You can get 2 1/8 and 2 1/4 rings now. The Chrome version of the 6000S isn’t really my cup of tea. But those larger base rings? That’s a feature I have been wondering about getting for myself. It might be worth buying one to test out.

I think you ought to consider the smaller ring sizes rather than going larger.

One concern I have regarding the chrome finish: Having owned plastic items in the past with a chrome-coated surface (not specifically CB devices...just regular everyday things like toys or keychains)...that chrome layer tends to eventually start flaking off. Does anyone know if this happens with the CB chrome-finished device? Or, for that matter, any of the other CB products that feature a finished surface instead of just bare, clear plastic?

I own the cb6000 in camo and it uses paint rather than chrome plating. I suspect that actual chrome plating would start to peel off, which would be quite painful (ouch). The paint has worn away on my unit in several spots, particularly where the lock rubs against it. However, I expect the device will likely split apart before the chrome finish begins peeling off entirely. That is just my take on it though....I could easily be mistaken.
