Put together a sensible deal. The cage is starting to crack, so you could probably glue it back up if you want—I’m not entirely sure. It hasn’t completely split open yet. I’m using this as an opportunity to experiment with something different.:3
This isn’t rare; I’ve come across several cases like it. You might have picked up a less expensive version, or perhaps your member is just slightly too big for the smaller cage size.
My old CB6K had that exact problem. I attempted to glue it back together, but the repair didn't hold up well. You might get better results, who knows? That was basically what pushed me toward switching to a metal cage.
My unit had the same issue even though it was very new. I contacted them and they sent out a replacement under warranty. It worked out well for me since I already owned the wood-finish 6000 model, so I had them send over the clear 6000s as well.
I bought it directly from their authorized Amazon seller. Should I ask about getting a warranty replacement?
