I'm not insisting that everyone agree with me. If others enjoy the Trophy Points, that's fine by me. I simply wanted to opt out. I won't be battling other posters for points or trophies anymore. I hold too much respect for all the good folks who post here. Ultimately, it rests with the administrators. But I want no part in this.

I think I'll abstain from voting. It's really about the member who has decided to leave Emily. There is always a choice and there are always more choices; plenty of other options exist besides the trophy points system or leaving altogether. Without disrespecting anyone, if someone wants to depart because of a points system that no one seems to pay much attention to, rather than just ignoring it and remaining a respected and valued community member, then that is their decision. It reflects more on how they interpret the points system than what the system actually exists for or means. I'm going to be quite controversial here, so please forgive me in advance if I offend anyone. I believe what seems to be happening is far more likely to cause greater disruption than the trophy points ever could. I can understand that brendajjq doesn't like the trophy points system because she sees it as introducing competition and giving some members the impression that one person is "better" than another. If the admins remove the trophy points just to keep her from leaving, then in three weeks a time another valued member might want to leave due to a new site feature which isn't removed; this would definitely make that person feel lesser than brendajjq, which I think was her main objection to the trophy points initially. If she values her friendships here and the site in general, leaving is the wrong decision. Sticking to your principles is good; cutting off your nose to spite your face isn't, and honestly, that's how it looks to me. Controversy settled now, and I apologize once again if anyone was offended.

No offense taken by me, bondagefan. I respect the free expression of differing views.

If people don't care about the points, then there isn't a competition to worry about, even if we can see people accumulating them. I understand that some view this as a potential issue, but it's not really an issue at all so far, just something kind of pointless (forgive the pun).

I can see your point, bondagefan, and must confess to having a partisan interest in emily.

Thank you, Brenda. Then just stay here and ignore the points; everyone else is:). You don't have to change your values or principles, all you have to do is remain true to yourself and just ignore the trophy points system as you would with anyone or anything else you didn't like. Please ask yourself one question, Brenda: is not liking the trophy point system worth leaving a forum and people you care about for? If the answer is yes, then take care and best wishes for your future; if the answer is no, then hi, I'm bondagefan65.
