I was looking for something via Google Images earlier today and it pulled up one of my photos from this site. I don’t know how others feel, but is it really right for Google to index here? From what little I understand, we can stop Google from indexing the place. It’s already indexed now and will take a while to clear their system, but wouldn’t it be better for privacy if the whole site stayed out of the index, just like Fetlife does?
Well I think everyone needs to weigh up what they put online and whether Google should index it. I'm not anonymous; my face is on my profile, but then again, I can stand by what I do. Nothing is truly safe on the internet.
Agreed. Let people Google me; I don't mind.
I thought you couldn't actually view the images in albums without logging in (since I tried sending someone a link to one and they couldn't open it). However, I do like that the forums themselves get indexed for search (though I'm not keen on those SEO "Users found this page by searching for" tags at the bottom of pages. It creates a vicious cycle with Google where people assume a thread is about a topic just because some SEO keywords are listed below it...).

Having just tested it, you can access them while logged out, but not directly. The Albums tab doesn't show up in profiles so you need the direct link, though of course Google finds these links and serves them from search results.
