I counted March: forty two letters, three worth answering

I kept a tally in March out of curiosity. Forty two letters. Of those, twenty six were interchangeable, in the sense that I could have swapped the names between them and noticed nothing. Nine were rude, or became rude when I did not answer within a day. Four were about money in one direction or the other. Three were worth answering, and I answered all three.

I am publishing the arithmetic because men on this board keep saying women do not reply, and I want them to see the shape of the thing rather than assume it is snobbery. Three out of forty two is not disdain. It is what happens when twenty six letters are the same letter.

Thirty nine, the east, twelve years leading. I currently have one man and that arrangement is settled and good, so what I am looking for is genuinely limited: a second, with everything open and known on all sides, and only if it fits without anybody being squeezed.

Which means I am a poor bet for most people reading this, and I would rather say so than collect letters I have no room to answer.

What gets into the small pile: somebody who has read what I wrote, who says one true thing about himself, and who does not open by telling me he is not like the others. Every man in the large pile says that. It is the single most reliable marker of the large pile.
