I am the person who remembers everything, which is a job nobody wants

The thing I do well is hold the whole of somebody else's schedule in my head and make sure nothing falls out of it. Appointments. Renewals. The birthday of the difficult cousin. When the thing that was ordered in March is actually due. It is not glamorous and it is the single most useful thing anybody has ever done for me, so I know what it is worth.

Thirty one, Manhattan, three years in. My one arrangement was with a woman who travelled constantly for work, and I ran everything that was not travel. She stopped carrying any of it and told me, about a year in, that she had not woken up at three in the morning remembering something in months. That sentence is the reason I am posting again.

What I want is that job. A standing brief, access to the boring parts, a report on a fixed day, and to be held responsible when I miss something, because I will occasionally, and being let off would spoil it.

I do not want anything physical or sexual, I do not want a title, and I am not asking to be in the room for anything.

I will not be paid, and I would like to say that plainly rather than have it discovered. I do a version of this professionally, which is exactly why the unpaid version means what it means. If money were involved I would simply have another client.
