Looking for a Mistress in Paris

Paris judges a man on his paragraphs. The search is conducted in writing for a long while before anybody proposes meeting, and three thoughtless lines will end a correspondence that might otherwise have run for a month. The professional side of this city is famous and the women who lead in their private lives keep deliberately clear of it, which is a distinction worth understanding before you write to anybody. Space is the obstacle everyone shares: small flats, shared walls, and an early frank conversation about where anything could happen at all.
